I'd say it would be the offseason following the 13-3 season and loss to Indy in the playoffs. That offseason the Chiefs hired the wrong guy to be DC and they made the wrong decision to bring back guys like Jerome Woods, Eric Hicks, and Greg Wesley.

Imagine the defense with Gregg Williams as DC, and Bert Berry at DE, opposite Jared Allen.

Berry was a free agent that offseason, 2 years ago when Hicks was also a free agent. The Chiefs could have let Hicks walk and signed Berry. In fact Arizona was interested in Hicks I think, instead the Chiefs decide to re-sign Hicks, and Berry ends up in Arizona.

Berry has had double digit sack years the past 2 years I think.

Hiring Robinson. That was an obvious mistake from the moment it happened, especially when there were half a dozen really strong candidates available at the time. That was a truly inexplicable decision.

We were put in a situation where the Bears had tons of cap room to spare and frontloaded his contract to a ridiculous cap number. There was no way we could keep Tait.
I think the obvious failing that DV had was not firing his DC who gave him the 32 defense.
