When New Year's Day falls on Sunday the bowl games are played on Monday.

Since the holiday fell on a Sunday this year the NCAA took a back seat to the NFL. Plus, for most people the "paid" holiday is tommorow (Monday). I cant remember the last time the traditional New Years Games were played on Jan 2nd though??

1978, 1984, 1989, 1995

Games were played on Mon. these years because 1/1 fell on Sun.
