Irv Eatman was also cut.

I'm on the side that would like to see Gun keep the DC job. I really don't think Gun had a fair go when they forced all of the crappy assistants that were here on him.
Regardless of what people are saying about Gun now, he's a proven DC and had never had a team finish outside of the top 10 until he returned here two years ago and took over a horrendous defensive unit and assistant coaches.
I won't be pissed if Herm brings in someone else. But, I also think a new DC and scheme will set the Chiefs back a year or two and I don't think the offense can wait.

Yes, we should stay status quo because of our 25th ranked defense.

I didn't know we had a defensive scheme. But I imagine any coordinator could play our corners 10 yards off the LOS and when a RB goes into the flat, have the corner cover him and have a linebacker cover the receiver.

How will we ever survive without Gunther?

Gosh, I don't know. But if he's gone, I surely will miss the times we didn't cover a team's #1 receiver with our best corner.
