View Full Version : Chiefs might move up in the draft to get V. Young.

The chiefs are going to trade some later picks to get a QBOTF. One that herm can groom like Pennington. I bet it's Vince Young. I hope it is vince young because he brings the scary presence of running the ball and throwing the ball too. He is the next generation quarterback one that can beat you with his feet and his arm and his mind. I dominant player that will change qbing forever. It's a good idea to bring him in, let him learn from similar quarterbacks like green and collins and then turn him loose on happiless defences and and then then boom

While I'd love to see the former, it's about as likely as the latter.
Besides, I think we might have grabbed Herm's project from the CFL.

In other related news the Chiefs are considering the possibility of moving up in the draft to aquire either Reggie Bush or Lindale White. The Chiefs are looking for a RBOTF, even though they have LJ, someday he is going to retire. Back to you in the newsroom.

And what 'water cooler' is that exactly? A bunch of football junkies with individual wish lists and agendas? Ya sure...
Is this coming from the Chiefs Insider, NA and WPI.
There is no way the Chiefs will trade nearly all their draft picks to move up to the top 5. They will have a lot of holes to fill, and with our cap, I don't see how a risky pick like V. young is worth our entire draft.

What does Vince Young have that Micheal Vick doesn't? Vick has a much better arm than Young and still has been a bust. All he could muster last year was a 70QB rating despite one of the best running attacks in the game, and the fact the defenders cheat on coverage to contain him.
QBing in the NFL is all about accurracy and reads. Cannon arms and foot speed are positives, but Tom Brady nor Trent Green nor Drew Brees, etc. has them, and have done pretty well.

That was very well "said"
Let's see some real good QB passing and thinking for a change instead of running and no arm when the QB HAS to win - like say, in the NFC championship game against a good defense - for example

We wouldn't have to worry about the QBOTF because we'd have to play him from day one, there would be no other offensive players left on the team. Herm would have to trade the whole group away to move up that far!
If he were left when the Chiefs draft at #20 it would be a good deal, but I'm not smoking the same stuff you are. Will not happen.

We would have to way overpay to get that guy and we don't need to be giving up draft choices. He can run sure but I am not convinced he can throw in this league. It cracks me up when people get all hot and bothered by a Michael Vick type QB. MV is the most over paid player in the history of the game and this guy is just like him.
MV stats.
Rated 25th in the league.
20th in passing yards.
18th in TDs with 15 and 13 INT's
Total yards for the whole season were only 2,412
Talk about overrated and hyped.

Every generation, for like the last 20 years of NFL Quarterbacks, there's this guy that is a really great athlete and can run like hell-and everyone says, "Oh man, he's gonna revolutionize the way the position is played! We have to get one of THOSE guys!"
And they're always wrong. Wrong with Randall Cunningham, wrong with Vick, and wrong with Vince Young too. Hell, Steve Young didn't win a SB until he trained himself to run ONLY as a last resort. He's the best of this 'running QB' school and he had to wash out first and then sit behind Montana for awhile until he figured it out.
The college game is vastly different than the NFL. Michael Vick is not, has not, and likely never will win a championship. Neither will Young, who is NO Michael Vick-he's smaller, he's not as fast, and he doesn't have as big an arm.
But what he has in common is that neither's been asked to read defenses prior to the NFL; both simply take off running if the primary receiver isn't open. Both are good athletes, but have a skill set that is NOT what succeeds in the NFL.
Vince Young probably WILL go high in the draft; and he will be a colossal bust. Mark my words. NFL players are a LOT faster than college teams, smarter, better prepared, and more disciplined. Young is no more qualified to run an NFL offense than Brad Smith. Now, if you want to do something else with him other than QB, you might get somewhere. But he has no experience in what he'd be asked to do at the NFL level at QB.

boy, he sure doesn't look that big. SKINNY, maybe, in that case. He looked like you could snap his legs like a twig. My mistake, then. I would say, then, in that case, that maybe the more 'compact' body would hold up better to the regular abuse of LB crushing.
At any rate, I don't think they guy is going to be an elite NFL QB.

As a science teacher, I have to tell you that there's no way in hell our Sun will ever supernova. Our sun(Sol..the proper name) is a medium mass yellow star. They only nova...which means that once it begins to run out of hydrogen, it will swell into a red giant frying Mercury, Venus, and the Earth. Then it will nova..releasing a hugh amount of energy, suddenly becomes much brighter and then gradually returns to its original brightness over a period of weeks to years. It will then shrink into a white dwarf star.
Only high mass supergiant stars supernova or explode violently.

For all of you saying that Young is a runner first, you obviously do not a clue and have not watched this man play other than the Rose Bowl if then.
Young led the nation in completion % and QB rating. This is against ALL other NCAA QBs. The man can throw the ball and must be able to read a few defenses to have those kind of numbers. Is this the result of fear of his running? Perhaps but why would that not translate the same way in the NFL? Young is not the next Michael Vick, he is compared more closely to Randall Cunningham. Seems to me that Randall had a decent career and threw for a lot of yards when he decided to stay in the pocket as an old man in Minnesota.
All of that aside, there is no way on God's green earth that the Chiefs will be drafting this guy. Too many other issues and too low in the draft to consider trying to move up that far.
