So what's your favorite fried food? And where does it stand on your "favorite foods" list altogether.

I gotta go with okra. I could live on fried okra. It would be in my top 10, definitely. Maybe top 5.

Just about any meat fried or any potato fried is on the top of my list. I can do without fried vegtables though - which BTW makes no sense to me. You eat vegtables because they are healthy, Drs tell me fried food isn't healthy, so where exactly do fried vegtables fit in?

Hands down, KFC.

I was on the road with a band in which I was the only caucasian.

The ONLY two places we stopped for food, (which was every 4 hours), as per the star of the show and leader of the band, were Waffle House and KFC.

To this day, I can not look a waffle straight in the eye, but can eat the colonel every day.

I am a follower of those secret herbs and spices, and the colonel is the pied-piper.

Does it really matter when everything tastes like chicken anyways?

Popeyes chicken to be exact is my favorite.

No doubt about that. I nearly choked when I read that.

Maybe he's talking about frying those tiny bay scallops.

I rarely eat fried food now, but what I do break down for on occasion is a fried buffalo chicken sandwich with ranch dressing. Fred P. Otts was always good for that.

There was a hole in the wall seafood restaurant that made their own down in Houston. Except they were entirely baby shrimp and shredded crab stuffed and made from scratch. Best ever. We used to stop by there just for the stuffed Jalaps 2-3x per month.

Then the restaurant sold out to a Mexican dude and he modified the recipe. A treasure was forever lost.

Fried scallops are pretty good (and no, most places used sea scallops, cut in 1/4-inch slices to fry, which IS a waste of good shellfish). I'll bet bay scallops are good fried, too...

Anybody up for fried softshell crab? That's good shit, too.

I make my own recipe with cream cheese, lump crabmeat and a pinch of garlic powder. Instead of coating, I wrap them in bacon strips, and instead of deep frying, I grill them.

Brown's Chicken (local Chicago chain) has the best fried mushrooms I've ever tasted. I'd have to go with those.

I try to stay away from fried anything at this point, though. I'll grant myself the occasional weekly treat, but that's about it.
