do you all think it should be to re-sign him on a scale of 0-5?

3 ... he's didn't improve as much as i'd hope last year.

although shifting him back and forth from left to right tackle was a difficult thing for him.

imo he belongs at guard anyway

real good...

i say give him some time and he'll be alright at lt too...

it takes time to learn how to play lt in the nfl...

tait never did figure it out (while he was here at least)...

He was decent at RG, but if we put him anywhere else, he just floundered.

I think he's a Guard, from what I've seen.....maybe a Right Tackle.

3 or 4, IMO.

He's a young player who has a solid foundation in the scheme. He was out of his depth at tackle but many are. It took Brian Waters a long time to develop too (although I know he was a TE prior). I think Black can make a good RG in the future. If Shields plays this year, we may as well leave Black at RG as his successor, and leave Welbourn at RT where he did well this year. Sampson can compete for that spot too. Then all we need is a LT draft pick and we're set for the future. I'll be happy if we resign Black.

I think he is a solid replacement for Shields. I would say 3

4, but cheap

The overall situation depends on Sampson and Welbourn.

If Welbourn stays at RT, we'll need a RG to replace Shields.

If Sampson takes RT and Welbourn takes RG, that leaves us with Bober and Black as backups.

We will probably release Bober cause of our cap problems, so we should keep Black.
