Sign Drew Brees with the following type of contract.

6 million dollar 4 tiered bonus

1 is signing bonus of 2 mil
2 is 1 million bonus if he wins starting job
3 is 8 week roster bonus if healthy 1 mil
4 is end of seasoan 2 mil bonus if healthy

5 year contact that is incentive laden each year
Incentives
1 mil for Pro Bowl
1 mil for Play off victory
3 mil for a Super Bowl victory

Appropriate salaries for years 1-5 (min to start progressing up)

Then if he beats out Trent it is a win-win.

Brees will never beat out Trent. I don't see this happening, either. I think Brees wants to go somewhere and start, unless his arm is just majorly f*cked.

Yep this draft is loaded, IMO.

I would LOVE to see the Chiefs pick up Charlie Whitehurst in the 3rd round. He has a ridiculous arm...it is a cannon.

Brees will command much more than a $6M signing bonus, not to mention a $6M bonus contingent on so many things....

Dude, horrible comparison. Grbac's arm was good, but Whitehurst has an arm on the level of Marino.

there are far more teams needing a starter than there are quality QBs. I bet Brees gets paid well
