View Full Version : Prayer Request

Around 1:45 or so this morning I received a phone call from my mom asking me to help my dad get her to the hospital as she has to use a wheel chair and her home is not wheel chair accessible. Anyway after we got her to the ER she went into shock. She was placed in ICU and diagnosed with a blood infection. At present her vitals are good and she is trying to rest. Her blood tests won’t be back for a few hours yet, so they don't yet know what kind of infection it is or its source. That's about it in a nut shell; any thoughts and prayers you could send up for her would be greatly appreciated.

I have said a prayer for your mom.

It is a wonderful way for people to help doctors heal their patients.....and I really believe it works.

Best wishes.

Again, thank you all so very much! :)

…Just a quick update. Mom seems to be doing much better; she is being moved out of ICU and into a private room among general hospital patients. They now have her on a regular diet and her appetite seems very good. Hopefully they will soon be able to identify and isolate the source of the infection when the tests all come back. Well, gotta run; my brother flew down from Georgia last night and we're getting ready to go back to the hospital.

God Bless!

That's very good news that your mom is out of ICU.

In 2003 and 2004 my mom was in ICU more than 30 days. Both times in the summer, both times she almost died. My parents live over 500 miles away, and I spent both my summer vacations those years hanging around a hospital waiting room. When your loved one is really sick, and can't communicate with you, because they're on medication, or a ventilator, or whatever, its really hard to see them in that condition. But always remember, that same person is still lurking inside that shell of a body. My mom was lucky, she pulled through, and she's still with us and reasonably healthy now. I thank God for her every day, and never take her for granted.

Give your mom and your family the CP's best wishes for a speedy recovery, and return home. Things will get better soon.

I'll post a pic of Ma Blowfish in the kitchen of her Arkansas Lakeside retirement residence, which she almost didn't live to enjoy:

Again, you guys are so awesome, and I am so touched by the outpouring of prayer and support from all of you; many of whom are dealing with much the same thing I am right now, and I want you to know that my prayers in return are there for you and your loved ones as well. Mom continues to improve, and I know it's because of all your thoughts prayers. Thanks so much!

God Bless!

Thank you; with everything that's been going on it's difficult to sleep, so I thought I would browse the Planet to see what everyone’s been up to.

Quick update:

Test results came back and they are no closer to identifying exactly what type of infection she has then when we first brought her in.

Gotta go.

Good thoughts for your mom continue, Greg. I'd say keep the faith, but I already know you will.

Sure will buddy! :)

The news is that all of her coulters (spelling?) came back clean; which is very good news, it just has the Dr. stumped. The Dr. told her she could come home once she gains some of her mobility back.
