All because of a 4% difference!!! I can't believe this... make a deal!

HerculesRockefell

Pryce had to be done, that contract was so out of whack with his production level that it wasn't even funny.

I'm so-so on Jeb, but his cap number was way too high this year.

Anderson was in his final year, couldn't really restructure unless you extended his deal and he's too old to do that.

The three cuts ended up saving Denver over $15M. This puts Denver in pretty good shape. Barely over if the cap is at $92M, slightly under if it comes in at $95M. Rod, Jake, Champ, Courtney and Al can still restructure and save some money. Lepsis and Warren have deals that void, so Denver will save $10+M if those deals void or probably half that much if they can get them re-signed in the next day or so.

I don't think so. Supposedly they have a 200 million dollar fund saved up to protect themselves financially all the way to a lockout. They've obviously been preparing for this.

Mc-Me-Owned
Stills
Woods

Dear Fans with the "Lets get every FA out there that becomes available" attitude,

Teams are cutting these superstars, not because they want too, or because they had a tift, or because they didnt like their choice in shoes, they are cutting them to get UNDER the cap. Guess what, the Chiefs are going to have to cut a lot of players to get under the cap, thats just to get enough under the cap in order to sign a few of our FA's and have room for our draft pics. We will in no way be doing a bunch of FA shopping this offseason, we may get one big one, if we are majorly lucky, but chances are that this wont even happen. So please, stop with the "Ohh so and so is available, lets sign him, and that guy over there, and you know, that other guy with the hair that can walk upright". Except it now, this offseason is not going to be a good one.

This is good for Denver. They had major cap space to lose, and they did it by getting rid of 3 players they won't miss (all that much); a system RB, a nobody TE and a mediocre DE.

Hopefully we can do the same. It'll be a shame if we get under the cap but by cutting decent players.

Unfortunately, cutting Woods hurts us against the cap. Maybe they could work out an injury settlement or something.

Looks like Champ's salary impact must be kicking in, already. I love it. Pryce has gone down hill some, but he's a quality player. Mike Anderson has been a workhorse, but is just another number to the Broncos. I still think he's one of the better backs from their roster, though.

I really like him on our DL but they were paying him stupid amounts of money. It seems like the Broncos like to set up contracts so that there will come a time when a player is obviously not worth the money on his contract. Then they make a decision at that point.

We picked up Wesley Duke and the guy looks decent for less money. Putz was offered a deal by another team a while back(maybe Miami?) and the Broncos matched it to keep him on the roster because he looked like he had a lot of potential. It's another situation where we have a guy who isn't worth what they signed him for.

More like Trevor didn't perform up to his deal. When you've got the highest cap hit on the team, you shouldn't be at best the 3rd best player on your unit.

They'll probably re-sign all of them for less $$$ , or they'll end up with T.O. and Edgerine James and lose another 3rd rounder - but not really gain and advantage for cheating... :shake:

Pryce doesn't suprise me. I think anyone that knew his contract situation saw this coming.

Anderson suprises me a little, but I guess drafting Clarrett last year was a sign that they were still looking for a RB.

Putz did suprise me. After Denver gave him that ridiculous contract a year or two ago, I assumed they were high on the guy.

I read a blurb somewhere today that said they were ready to just give the rock to Dayne, and that Putz "wasn't a favorite" of Shanahan, whatever that means.
