We're about to start on a big landscaping project in our yard, and my job this weekend was to go out and pick out a few decorative boulders. I don't think I've ever had so much fun.

I ended up buying four of them, ranging from 400 to 700 pounds. That's still only about 3 ft. by 2 ft. by 2 ft., though. I wanted to get a couple of really big ones, but there's no way to get them into our yard, so they had to be small enough to get through the back door of our garage.

The landscaping place had one big granite boulder that was almost as tall as I was, and about the same width. That would've been awesome to have in my back yard. However, I'm still happy with the ones I bought.

Tune in next week for more adventures with rocks.

I thought every backyard in Colorado came with it's own boulders?

You had to buy a boulder? What do boulders sell for?

Nah. Mine had a little gravel in the driveway, but that's about it. Now, though, my four new boulders will confound some future generation of geologist.

"I own Boulder! I own Boudler!" would have been much more impressive.

Do they deliver or did you have to haul them home?

How big does a rock have to be to qualify it a boulder?

Our landscaper will be picking them up.

The tricky part will be getting them through our garage door, especially the biggest one.

And yeah, maybe, cdcox. But they'd want me to take CU-Boulder as part of the deal, and I don't need that kind of headache.

could you rent a plane and have them air dropped in? that option would allow bigger boulders. but accurate placement could be a problem.

Now THAT would be cooler than owning Boulder.

I think it would be funny to walk in the store and say, "pardon me sir, I'd like to buy a rock."

You should have simply radioed space for a meteor.

Congrats.
Have you given your new rock’s pet names yet? :hmmm:

Will your wife be saying something like, "I think they would look better over there.............no, no,.....move it to the left a little more. (pause) I think I would really like them in the front yard, honey." ?

I got passed by a semi load of boulders on the way to Tulsa this morning. Rainman's landscaping ideas are spreading fast.
