Hawks sign former Chiefs safety | Subscribe

Shaunard Harts played 51 games (starting 17) for Kansas City over a four-year period, collecting 166 tackles, two interceptions, two sacks and an interception (stats according to NFL.com). He did not play last season. The Seahawks signed him this week and will presumably bring him to camp. This is not an earth-shattering move. As Mike Holmgren would say, this makes the pile at safety a little deeper. Another bio is here. He worked out for the Seahawks back in September.

This is a HUGE signing... ;)

I hated to see Harts leave KC....I thought he did a good job when he actually played. I don't think its a bad signing at all.

He's a player. Not a star, but a solid contributor. He's not Ed Reed, but he's great insurance.

Well, at least we know where our cast off Safety's go...

Nice pickup. You'll like him. He's not flashy but he's not mistake prone either.

I disagree with the other posters. He was a back-up on our terrible defenses. I doubt he makes your team. He sat out of the league all of last year. I think that says it all. He did some solid things for us, and made a play here and there, but overall, guys like him are a dime a dozen. JMO.

Too slow, not a big hitter. I agree with cormac, a dime a dozen.

If this guy has shown so much when he got a chance, why did no one pick him up last season? Didn't he go unsigned?

Personally, I think Harts is another product of lowered expectations of defensive players from Chiefs fans.

Getting playing time on our shitty D doesn't mean much. Getting ignored by teams last off season means a lot more.

Shaunard Harts is bound for Canton.

(Okay, I'm required to say that, but I am a Harts backer.)

He sucks. The only think he can do is hit someone really hard. But he has to be around the ball to hit them, which is rare.

Still he is better than Bartee.

I say the same.

Yup.

Yeah, I realize those were some bad defenses....but the problems were more up front, with no pressure and runners tearing through the "first" level. I'm not saying our DBs were great--clearly, they sucked. Why no one picked him up....well, lower tier safety's are kind of a "dime a dozen," I think he was a notch above that though. Playing for the Chief's D probably didn't help his cause though. I'd bet he makes the team, if he's stayed in shape and is healthy....
