So, who's having green beer tonight? Or how about some Irish Whiskey? :toast:

Next to Christmas and the Fourth of July, St. Patty's Day is my favorite holiday....great memories of years past. I'll share a memory or two when I get more time later....

How about you? What are you doin' today? When will the festivities begin for you? Any memories of past years to share.?

Here's to the Irish. God Bless them today! :toast:

I got a case of the "Irish Flu" today.

I went to the Dropkick Murphys show last night and drank my face off. Thinking of booze right now is making me want to die, DIE!!!!!!!!!!

But as Kent Brockman once said "Friday is St. Patrick's Day, where everyone is a little bit Irish......well except the gays and italians."

Going to an Irish Pub called Shannagan's tonight. Same place I went last year. It was a blast...live band, green beer, and drunk sluts.

After work, I'm driving halfway to my parents, meeting my mom, and dropping off the boy with them. Then back home to kick off festivities. We probably won't do too much tonight, as we're going to see Wilco tomorrow night. Woot!

I don't really understand this holiday. If you want to drink all day long you can do that whenever you want without all the crowds and cops.

I'm going to smoke anything green in my house.

Oddly enough, the only green garment I had to wear today was a hemp dyed t-shirt.

Hopefully I won't get that desparate.

For the Planet's Combat Veterans, on St. Patty's day:

Irish Whiskey Pie

Ingredients:
1 chocolate ready-to-use pie crust
1/4 cup Irish whiskey
1 pkg. unflavored gelatin
1 tbsp. mint jelly
2-3/4 cups whipped topping
2 tbsp. sugar
2 eggs, separated
Green food coloring
2/3 cup light cream
1 dash salt
Instructions:

Combine gelatin, 1 Tablespoon sugar, and salt in saucepan. Beat egg yolks lightly. Add egg yolks, cream and whiskey to gelatin mixture. Cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until mixture thickens slightly. Stir in mint jelly. Chill until mixture begins to thicken.
Beat egg whites to soft peaks. Beat in remaining sugar until mixture holds a stiff peak. Fold meringue and 2 cups whipped topping into custard mixture. Add green food coloring to desired shade. Turn into crust. Garnish with remaining whipped topping and refrigerate until firm. Let stand at room temperature for 2 hours before cutting.

Or, if you'd prefer.....how about a

Shamrock Shake

Ingredients:
2 cups vanilla ice cream
1-1/4 cups milk, 2% lowfat
1/4 tsp. mint extract
8 drops green food coloring
Instructions:

Combine all ingredients in a blender and blend on high speed until smooth. Stop blender to stir with a spoon if necessary to help blend ice cream.
Pour into 12-ounce cups and serve each with a straw
