Has there ever been a final 4 without a #1 seed?

I went all the way back to 1985 and didn't see one.

Nope, it's never happened. There's never been a final 4 without a #1 seed. Also, all four # 1's have never made it to the final four.

The year Kansas lost to Zona, didn't three one seeds make the final four?

I'm a GMU fan. They are almost as good as K-State.

I know that AZ beat 3 #1 seeds that year, but I don't remember how many #1's made it to the final four. In 93, there were 3 1 seeds and a 2 seed in the final four.

Before the tournament started, I read something that said the sum of your final four seeds should range from 7-13... meaning you shouldn't pick all 1s or do anything crazy. If Florida wins, the average would double and add up to 20

just on Thursday... the pundits were saying ALL #1s would probably make it.

heh.

heh.I partially blam last night on Seth Davis switching, at the last second, from Memphis-bashing mode to Memphis-backing mode. What a twat.

Yep, ask Saul or WilliamtheIrish. K-State has taken over college basketball. And they did it without playing a game.

LSU/UCLA/GMU/Florida is an ugly final four.

What is the lowest seed to ever make the FF? GMU has to be close.

LSU was an 11 in '85.

LSU was in '86, but 11 is correct.

LSU was in '86, but 11 is correct.Yes. 1985 was the year of the three Big East teams and that one other team, whoever that was.

Per Billy Packer, 1980 was the last Final Four without a #1.

Yeah I just heard that too and looked it up.

Billy Packer is right. I guess even a blind squirrel...

I'm envisioning Packer as an retarded albino squirrel lacking the use of all 5 senses.

The gap is closing... seeding is becoming more irrelevant with each passing year. I said somewhere before the tournament that I didn't think any of the #1 seeds were very safe... but I still thought at least one of them would make it through.

Congrats to your Gators.

I knew at the start of the tourney that the final 4 and indeed the eventual champ will probably surprise most people, but this is a little ridiculous!
