The New York Jets (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/clubhouse?team=nyj) beat out two of Andre Dyson (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?statsId=5507)'s former teams -- the Tennessee Titans (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/clubhouse?team=ten) and the Seattle Seahawks (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/clubhouse?team=sea) -- and reached an agreement with the cornerback on a five-year, $11.5 million deal, including $3 million in signing and roster bonuses.

Dyson will replace Ty Law (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?statsId=3188) as one of the Jets' starting corners.

By going to the Jets, Dyson will end up making more money than he would have had he stayed with the Seahawks, who released him last month. Dyson was scheduled to make $3 million this season.

Dyson, 26, was drafted by the Titans, and went to the Seahawks prior to the 2005 season. Apparently, he didn't burn any ties with his former teams. Both Seattle and Tennessee were trying to talk Dyson into a lower paying contract to come back and compete for a starting job.

Dyson opted to make a new start with new head coach Eric Mangini and the Jets.

In his five years in the league, Dyson, a graduate of Utah, has 17 interceptions and 69 passes defensed.

I thought this kid would have fit in real well. That's not a huge contract either. Dammit Carl! :banghead:

He wasn't on my wish list. Gun didn't want him last year and he didn't want him this year. Gun saw him up close and personal in Tennessee and wanted no part of him.

And Gunt practically drooled all over himself when he talked about Bell.

Yeah, he's a hell of a talent evaluator.

Well, in Gun's defense, he is a hell of a talent evaluator when it does come to linebackers, sort of...

Other than that, I pretty much agree with you.

Dammit, I'd have liked Dyson. But hey it's not like we need a corner.
