So I'm at a $1-$2 no limit table last night here in Vegas and in walks this really well dressed guy. He seemed to know alot of people and was very entertaining. As were playing he kept mentionin that he had to work at noon (it was 2am). The dealer jokingly asked him what he did and the guy replied, "Oh lets not get into that.

So anyways, we were playing for quite sometime (and I'm taking his and other peoples $$) and he kept mentioning how he needed to leave becasue he had to work. So I ask him what kind of work brings him to Vegas for the weekend. He tells me he's an umpire. Well it's Major League weekend here in Vegas (Cubs vs. Padres). Then I ask him his name. His name is Doug Eddings. I laughed and told him I was an Angels fan. He says to me, 'Oh you definetly know who I am". Yes sir I do.

As much as I hated him during the ALCS, I have to say, he was super cool and i got a nice chunk of change out of him :)

Just a fun story I thought I would share.

I asked him umping was a year round job and he said just the season. But I thought that maybe they had off-season stuff to do, but he said no. He said he only had to work year round when he was in the minors becasue of the lack of cash flow.

That's pretty cool that you recongnized him, I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have caught who he was.

I met Mathew Modine, you might know him from such movies as Vision Quest, Private School and Opa!, at the Rio last time I was out there.

Vegas is awsome.

Wonder what someone would say if a player was out at the casino until 2am the morning of a game?

Apparently Umps don't need to be 100% to do their job. Gee, I wonder why people think they f*ck up a lot.

The only "famous" person I've met while in Vegas was poker player Scotty Nguyen.

I was waiting for a game at Bellagio, and he was waiting in the sports book for Ted Forrest, Howard Lederer and Todd Brunson to show so they could start a 1000/2000 limit game.

Seemed like a down to earth guy.

My favorite line of his.....

"If you call, it's gonna be all over, baby."

Thats' cool. I met Scotty at a local billards bar here in town called Pinkies. He was nice.

I will be meeting alot of poker celebs tonight. I'll be playing in a Celebrity Poker Tournament at the Venetian, against the likes of Doyle brunson, tex barch, Layne Flack and so on. It's an invite only tourney and we are playing for a Lotus Car. Apparently the car is way hot.

So, wish me luck. I'm gonna need it. :)

LOl--No, but I wished I would of. I did wonder about how he would do after only so many hours of sleep.

I talked with a guy i work with and he told me that Doug kept getting promoted through the umpiring ranks becasue he is such a nice guy, not becasue he's very good at what he does. He told me that he is known for going to the bars and buying everyone drinks and making all kinds of friends and everyone ket giving him the job because they liked him so much. After meeting and hanging out with him for hours on end, I can totally see that. He really is a cool dude.

Nice gys finish first sometimes and then screw the LA Angels I guess. :)
