Something weird happened with the first one I tried. Maybe a mod can delete it? I posted it just as the Planet froze up on me and now I can't get back into it.

Anyway, on to today's game.

Sweeney earned redemption with his game winning homerun yesterday.

Today's pitching matchup is Mark Buherle v. Scott Elarton. Buherle always seems to pitch especially well against us.

Here's to hoping Reggie and Sweeney continue to pick up the pace. :toast:

An heres to hoping for no WGN blackout today.

Big money...no whammies, no whammies, stop!

The one that I can't get into and this one.

Where's the other one?

Coach
04-09-2006, 12:08 PM
That's what I am doing Reaper. MLB Audio is pretty awesome. Just a few seconds behind from the actual pitch (Usually a pitch or 2 behind) and just wish they could had it a bit better in terms of timing, but I won't complain too much.

Notes: Greinke may be close to return
04/09/2006 1:18 PM ET
By Dick Kaegel / MLB.com

KANSAS CITY -- Pitcher Zack Greinke apparently is about ready to return.
Although Royals general manager Allard Baird said Sunday that there is no date set for Greinke, he added: "He's moving forward. I don't think it's long."

Greinke, 22, left Spring Training on Feb. 25 and went home to Orlando, Fla., to deal with what the club called "personal matters." According to published reports, Greinke has been under the care of a psychologist.

Baird declined to state Greinke's problem.

"Out of respect to him, I'd rather have him do that," Baird said.

Greinke, when he does come back, probably will report to Arizona to make up for time lost when he left Spring Training. Then he'd probably pitch in the Minors before being ready again for Major League competition.

"He's doing good, sounding great, anxious to be back," Baird said.

"For the issues he's been going through, I'm really proud of him. He's a courageous young man."

Greinke is one of the Royals' brightest young talents. Their first-round draft choice in the 2002 First-Year Player Draft, he was called to the Majors in May 2004.

In his rookie season, Greinke had an 8-11 record and 3.97 ERA in 24 starts. However, last season he was just 5-17 with a 5.80 ERA in 33 starts.

With Runelvys Hernandez and Mark Redman also on track to return, the Royals rotation is likely to undergo an overhaul in the next few weeks.

Before Spring Training began, the Royals expected Hernandez, Greinke and Redman to take three of the five starting spots. But, after Greinke left, Redman had knee surgery and Hernandez was out of shape.

Redman is on the disabled list, scheduled to pitch for Double-A Wichita on Tuesday. Hernandez was optioned to Triple-A Omaha.

"Pitching wasn't the biggest issue," manager Buddy Bell said of Hernandez. "We know he can pitch. It's a durability issue and whether he maintains his stuff."

Hernandez got his first competitive test Sunday, pitching for Omaha against Nashville.

I can't agree with this.

They have put together a pretty decent lineup.

They also have an ace-quality pitcher in Scott Kazmir.

The only area the Royals have an edge is in the bullpen.

I think they wouldn't wind up with so many losses if they weren't in the AL east.

This team will win a few games this year. The lineup is not great, of course, but we have a couple of pitchers who should give us good starts. The bullpen's not bad, and the defense is pretty good.

I loved seeing Buddy Bell throw down his hat and kick it, the most exciting part of an otherwise uneventful day at the K.

I'm 0-2 this year at the games, maybe the Royals should pay me to stay home :sulk:

Actually other than DeJesus being out with that injury, today was the first day we'd changed the lineup at all I do believe. Facing a lefty like Buehrle allowed us to mix up the lineup... and even then we only really replaced one guy. I actually like Bell's philosophy of letting guys get used to being in the same rhythm everyday though. Tony Pena would mish-mash all the time. We haven't even gotten Matt Stairs an at-bat yet. German hasn't seen much action either.
