Yep. KU and Texas both look to be in great shape. OSU returns alot of young talent. K-State became instantly better. I bet Tech will be better. Baylor will be good. A&M will be good.

ISU, NU, CU? ISU hired a mid-major coach with mid-major recruiting prowess, NU and CU kept their shitty coaches. Mizzou made a good hire but it might take a little time. OU hasn't even hired a coach yet, although sources say it may be Karl Hobbs from GW.

I guess so. This 2006 class may only include the #23 player rated in the nation and the #8 and #16 JUCO players in the nation. Kinda weak. Next years class could consist of the #1, 2, 3, 5, 7 players in the country. Thats the kind of excellence we should be getting here in MHK.

Project player, keep in mind King Kaun was rated higher coming out of high school and he was less of a project. I hear he can block 5-11 hi school players shots, quite a step up for the kitties.

Saulbadguy
04-10-2006, 05:37 PM
At this time Kaun was rated a bit lower. After the new rankings come out soon, they will be about the same. This guy is pretty much a center who will provide us with much needed size on the inside. We already picked up a decent post scorer in Kenny Williams. Now if we could only get Clarence Holloway...

Bennett still undecided
7-3 hoops recruit will choose between Cats and Auburn
By HOWARD RICHMAN
The Kansas City Star

There are conflicting reports on the status of Kansas State basketball recruit Jason Bennett, a 7-foot-3 center.

Bennett’s high school coach at Jacksonville, Fla., Arlington Country Day, Rex Morgan, told The St ar on Monday that Bennett has not made his final decision on whether he will attend K-State or Auburn.

That contradicts a GoPowercat.com report in which Bennett’s AAU coach, Art Alvarez, said it was a done deal between Bennett and K-State. Bennett can’t sign his letter of intent until Wednesday, the first day of the spring signing period.

“It’s not true,” Morgan said. “Art may have gotten it confused. I talked with Jason (Monday), and he hasn’t decided. His (Bennett’s) father saw the report, and he was surprised.”

Alvarez, reached by The Star on Monday, abruptly ended the conversation when asked about Bennett by saying he “was in a meeting” and hung up.

On Sunday, Rivals.com scout Jerry Meyer said he expected Bennett would choose K-State because of coach Bob Huggins, who’d received an oral commitment from Bennett while he was coaching at Cincinnati.

I still think he will commit to K-State. If he doesn't, oh well, and best of luck to him wherever he goes. It kind of makes me wonder when we are recruiting 4 or 5 players but only have 2 scholarships open.

With K-State's recruiting failure rate of 89.6%, they need about 10 candidates for the two scholies.

We're talking about Bob Huggins here. He's going to shoot it to these guys straight, I'm guessing. With the type of talent (4 and 5 stars) he can bring in right now, if the players like Allen (already realized it, apparently), Yearby, Hughes, Stewart, Kent, etc., etc., can't realize that they will be lucky to sniff the court next season, I'm sure Huggy won't have any problem letting them know where they stand. He can do that by going after three or four guys when only two scholarships are available. This is Huggins' new proving ground, and I don't think he wants to waste even one season with NAIA talent like those four. And who can blame him?

I think Bennett signs with KSU tomorrow.

Of course, as you know, I've been wrong before.

The only thing pulling at him not to sign with KSU is his Dad. It's legit. I'd want to be able to travel and see my Son play whenever possible. Playing in the SEC allows for him to do that at a much higher rate. Playing in the B12 requires a lot more travel for his Dad.

Good luck to the kid wherever he ends up...................which I honestly believe will be in Manhattan.

I'd say he has a 7'1 frame. He is probably 7'3 due to his neck, literally.

12 points a game isn't bad considering he has at least 2 other D-1 signees on his HS team. He won't be a scorer, either. He is a shot blocker, and a rebounder, first.
