Okay. Let's say you are one of those dudes who hangs up the "K"s on the side of the wall.If a batter strikes out swinging, then it's a forward "K". If they strike out looking, it's a backwards "K".

Which K do you hang up for a strike out on a fouled third strike bunt?

I would think the forwards one, but was hoping someone knew the rule.

It's a forwards K. The same would be true on a foul bunt with two strikes.

The backwards K is only used if the batter did not actually attempt to hit the ball.

Should be a forward K, he attempted to strike the ball.

Surprised they haven't come up with a different one
with all the stats that are gathered.

Actually they do, for the bunt foul strike three, it's an upside-down K.

Huh. I always thought those 3 K signs were just members of the Ku Klux Klan attending the game.

Will that work to turn any character upside down?

Uhhh ... this isn't a "rule." I'm pretty sure it's not in the MLB Rule Book.

Who said it was an MLB rule?

I just guessed that it was a scorekeeping practice/tradition.

Backwards K is just for a called strike 3. A foul tipped bunt isn't 'called'.

Please. You're making it sound like the fans in the stands have some protocol or rule book for how they hang up signs during a game. Is there an official rule committee too?

Baseball scorekeepers have rules. That's what the "K" people in the stands are emulating.
