If she liked Sugarhill Gang, she'll like it.

Ever been over to a friend's house to eat
And the food just ain't no good?

Hotel, Motel, Holiday Inn...
If your girl starts acting up
then you take her freind

Those were the days....

I've never heard of Rapper's Delight, but I know Afternoon Delight.

Is there any similiarity?

Ever been over to a friend's house to eat
And the food just ain't no good?
The maccaroni's soggy, the peas are mushed,
and the chicken tastes like wood.
So you try to play it off like you think you can
by sayin' that you're full
and your friend says "mama, he's just being polite.
He ain't finished, uh-uh, that's bull."
So your heart starts pumpin' and you think of a lie,
and you say you already ate.
Your friend says, "man there's plenty of food,
so you pile some more on your plate."

(Still more to that verse.)

Hotel, Motel, Holiday Inn...
If your girl starts acting up
then you take her freind

Those were the days....

Cause, you know, I've never been in the loop.Came out in 1979. I thought pretty much everyone knew that song.

"Rapper's Delight" is a 1979 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1979) (see 1979 in music (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1979_in_music)) single by American hip hop (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hip_hop_music) trio The Sugarhill Gang (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Sugarhill_Gang); it is widely acknowledged as the first hip hop (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hip_hop_music) hit single.

I grew up roller skating in the 80's. They played that song all the time. There are several versions of it. The song, as a whole, is like 13 minutes long, or thereabouts. It doesn't have all that gangsta or cussing stuff. Just some good rhymes.

It really is good. You ever seen The Wedding Singer? It's what the old lady starts rapping at her anniversary party.

I didn't listen to comtemporary pop, or whatever, even then, in my late teens.

I haven't really liked most music since the 60s.

oh, don't get me wrong... a few seconds into it I kinda snickered a bit... then it kept going on... it's almost like how I can't stomach my niece's 'my little pony' tapes when I visit my older sis's house--it's cool for what it was intended for, but...I'm a bit older than a nine year, and not a girl

didn't ruin my night though--

naw, I saw your sarcasm... but I'm running on 3 hours sleep from last night, and I'm a night person, which means I won't be able to get to sleep before 2 or 3 am... and have to get up at 8am tomorrow morning for work...basically, I'm toast right now
