The one in Denver will be passing about half a block from my office. I doubt that I'll go, though, because I hear that their floats aren't very good, and I doubt that any of them will be throwing candy into the crowd.

You should go jump the fence. See how they like it.

My honest take on these things is easy: When the march is in a containable area you move the police in and lock everyone down. Behind the police are busses driven by the INS. Those who can prove citizenship are let out of the quarantined area, those who can't get on a bus headed for Mexico. These bulls**t parades and such would stop soon enough.

As for the long-term problem, just start jailing people for giving aid and comfort (jobs) to the enemy. If you risked a year in jail for each illegal alien you hired you'd be damn sure to check up on their green cards when you hired people.

No. If I wanted to celebrate Mexico's Independance, I'd go to Mexico. However, I will be happy to parade and celebrate with all of the US population on the July 4th celebration.

Personally, I have no problems with ANY person coming to the US through legal channels and becoming a part of the great mixing pot known as the US. I do have problems with people wanting to sneak into our nation and force their former country's customs on us and expect us to conform to them. If I were to move to their country, I would take it upon myself to learn their lanquage, not force them to learn mine.

Here is another get together in Dog Killing Country.

Jade

BAND member Lisa Ransdell has set plans for the one
year anniversary of the reinstatement of the Denver
breed ban and here they are...

On Tuesday, May 9th we'll have a Candlelight Vigil
outside Denver's Municipal Animal Shelter to
memorialize the 1100 dogs that have been killed just
because of the way they look. We will all arrive at 8
p.m. for an official 8:30 p.m. start time. Address and
directions to the shelter are below.

This will be a solemn event, there will be no
speakers, but probably plenty of media, so we ask you
to please be the best representative of our breeds you
can be. The theme will be about the dogs, so highlight
that in your signs, specifically that these dogs are
targeted for how they look. As you know, many other
breeds of dogs have been identified by Animal Control
as Pit Bulls that have been American Bulldogs,
Mastiffs, Boxer mixes, etc.

If you or someone you know has had their dogs killed
by Denver's Animal Control as part of this breed ban,
please e-mail photos of the dogs to both of these
e-mail addresses: lrandsdell@comcast.net and
Lisa.Ransdell@du.edu. She will put them on a large
banner that will show some of the dogs that have been
killed.

Please bring your own candle, and know that if it is
windy that night, it could be a good idea to bring a
brown paper bag with you as well to keep the candle
from blowing out. We will have some candles there, but
not enough for everyone.

If you need help with ideas for your own sign, stop by
the SorryAgain.com website to see how some of the
captions of the photos from that site highlight the
dogs. Many of them say things like, "I'm sorry you're
scared of me," alongside the photo or "I'm sorry you
want to kill me just for the way I look."

This event is to commemorate the dogs and highlight
the fact that dogs are being killed just for the way
they look. I've talked to dog people from all around
the country who do not truly believe that the City of
Denver is picking up good family dogs and killing
them. People need to know this is happening here and
is happening or could happen elsewhere.

If you are outside of Denver, but want to support us,
feel free to have your own vigil at 8:30 p.m. Mountain
Time (10:30 p.m. Eastern Time, 7:30 p.m. Pacific Time)
and write to let us know what you are doing. We dog
people are all in this together!

I'm going to ask you to e-mail here at
ThePitBullBAND@aol.com only if you can come--you don't
need to write if you can't make it--so we can get a
good count. If you need further information, please
contact Lisa at the above address. I hope to see you
there.

Denver Municipal Animal Shelter is at 678 South Jason
Street. The nearest major cross streets are Alameda
and I-25. If you take the first light south, just west
of the I-25 overpass from Alameda Street, that is
Jason. The shelter will be on the left a few blocks
down.

I do have problems with people wanting to sneak into our nation and force their former country's customs on us.

Precisely.

There was a good article in the paper the other day whereas the writer applauded the immingrants for choosing to parade. However, she suggested NOT to be waving your country's flag, but instead be waving the American flag. If you want Americans to support your cause, nothing will be better than to show that you support our country as well. But, waving the Mexican flags and chanting in Spanish will only hurt their cause.

By the way, a couple of the posts in this thread remind me of a story I heard once.

Sherman Alexi is a Native American who lives in Washington state and wrote and directed the movie Smoke Signals.

He came to KU and relayed one of his 9-11 experiences.

He said that the moment that the news broke of the planes striking the tower, his friends and family all said to each other, "Please, oh, please let this be the work of some Swedish bastards" so that they would not get lumped in with all of the other "brown people".

Then he said that about a month later he was walking across a busy Seattle street and this thundrous, poorly muffled truck with giant tires , a gun rack, and some Toby Keith or something playing pulled up as he was crossing in front of it.

Then this total redneck rolls down his window and shouts at him

"Hey! go back to your OWN COUNTRY!"

After Mr. Alexi controlled his laughter, he replied,

"You first!"

Don't know which is worse.
The genesis of the story being true, and the this guys initial response to 9/11 is "I hope I don't get any grief out of this."

Here's my favorite bit of information from the day's events:

"Demonstrators across the United States -- including about 100,000 in Chicago -- missed work and school Monday, protesting Congress' attempts to toughen immigration laws. The "Day Without Immigrants" rallies are intended to show the economic power of illegal and legal immigrants.

What a perfect representation of who we are arguing about.

It's Immigrant day and down here and things are pretty damn quiet...it's so nice, and on top of that, so far today I have been able to get everything I need at a Grocery Store, Convenience Store, Dry Cleaning, ROSS, even a tire repaired if I need to, and let's not forget Taco Bell, they're still open.

Only thing is, if I wanted to buy a cheap hub cap I'd be shit out of luck, oh yeah and the check cashing place is closed too.

Other than that, looks like hte only people missing the "immigrants" are the "immigrants" themselves, or the Hispanic population down here that shops in those places.

I live in San Diego....

this morning the news was showing that the wait to get across the border was less than a minute (which usually can be anywhere between a half-hour and an hour)....and they were saying how "we're starting to see the effects of the protests"

How stupid is that?

At lunch, I drove by several authentic taco shops (where the citizenship of the workers would be suspect at best)....and none of them were closed....good for them...at least they're smart enough business men to realize what's most important (money in their pocket).

Get this...the only place I could find that was closed was the "dining area" of taco bell! The drive-thru was open, but you couldnt eat inside.

The protestors really set America back with that inconvenience!

Thank God I'm a US citizen with an education so I could read "DRIVE-THRU" on the sign....otherwise, I might have starved!

Yeah, like they "work".

My thoughts:

1. What a dark day for America. A day in which millions of criminals marched through the streets of our largest cities, unimpeded by law enforcement, fawned over by the media and felated by politicians. What other nation on earth would tolerate this shit? What the hell is wrong with our leaders? Christ.

2. What tribe do I belong to? THE WINNING TRIBE. Any questions? And yes, my ancestors came over on boats. Of course, they called themselves colonists, not immigrants, except for the last one who came over, a Scottsman serving with French army. He arrived in 1780. I guess he called himself a soldier. Contrary to PC revisionist bullshit history, Native Americans weren't peace-loving flower children who ran in the fields and communed with nature. They continually and brutally waged war on each for status and territory. We just did it better.

3. Yes, immigrants ASSISTED in building this country. No, the didn't build it by themselves, contrary to what we are led to believe by PC revisionist bullshit history.

Those people who fought and died to win it in the first place had a small hand in it. We still do. We actually have a labor shortage in this country.

Nothing wrong with immigration or immigrants. It's those who ILLEGALLY enter the country that have me concerned. It's the EASE BY WHICH those ILLEGALS enter the country that has me hopping mad at the inept government.

I work in an office with several legal immigrants. They're far more pissed off by this whole thing than even *I* am. The illegals are going to over-play their hand here and they're going to do it in a big way. They're making their moves based on the media, not the man on the street. That's going to spell bad things for their cause.

Already has. I lost all sympathy for their act when they turned the argument into an "anti-Mexican thing" versus border security and LEGAL -v- ILLEGAL immigration.

I would have loved to see swarms of INS rounding up the illegals at these "rallies", then bus their asses to the nearest border, drop 'em off, & tell 'em "Hasta!". Of course there are ZERO politicians in this country with a set a cojones big & brass enough to call for that kind of action ;)

Well, as I stand at the end of the day and look back...

The lines at KMart moved faster than usual.
I could understand the greeter and the checkout lady at the grocery store
I could find a parking when I went to get my kid from school

As for inconvenience, It is my understanding that the local hotdog plant was short handed today so we might be a bit short on hotdogs at the store in the next week or two

The only other inconvenience I noticed was there were a few more slow drivers playing loud mariachi music in the middle of the day.

Can we do this again tommorow?

That is probably a good thing, but you wouldn't need to concede to learn their language, they wouldn't speak to you in English if they spoke it.

I spent 3 weeks in Oxacha at the Corona Brewery. I learned to get my motel key, order breakfast and dinner. The selection wasn't great and was limited even further due to my inability to pronounce the words to suit the staff.

That was one persons experience, but I'm sure that there are many more like it. This was in 1985, before the current "hostilities" between the Mexican gov and U.S. citizens.
