Outside the Northeast? Not many. Only Red Sox and Yankee fans, for the most part....and fewer and fewer people seem to be following baseball very closely anymore.

I say yes people do care. On top of that, I think more and more people are following baseball more closely now. Everyone has the misconception that people aren't following it anymore, like they weren't after the strike and pre-Sosa/McGwire days. However, if we didn't live in a town where the team fails to compete each year, I think everyone would realize just how big baseball has become again.
