We had 12 direct hits and 28 of 32 first-rounders in our mock draft, a strong showing given the amount of guesswork that goes into these things. Guest analyst Rob Rang of NFL Draft Scout also hit on 28 of 32 first-rounders. NFL Draft Scout compared that figure to the mock drafts of what it considered the "industry's 20 most respected draft analysts". Only Clark Judge of CBS SportsLine had as many players correctly tabbed for the first round. We have self-servingly taken that information and put it into a chart (PDF version). And yes, we'll do the same thing next year even if we rank at the bottom.

Another PDF file compares my picks against Rob's picks and the actual picks, with direct hits in gray and first-round whiffs in red (Excel version). Note: Rob influenced my choice of Kelly Jennings as the Seahawks' pick. In 2003, another person (who shall remain nameless) influenced my last-minute decision to scratch off Marcus Trufant as Seattle's pick (ostensibly because Carolina was definitely going to draft him).

Of course I like how people put so much stock in these guys, but at the same time their 14th pick didn't even go in the first round.
