1. Where will Ty Law play this season?

I'd be shocked if Law wasn't starting at right cornerback for Kansas City. Chiefs general manager Carl Peterson has been in contact with Law's agent, Carl Poston, and head coach Herm Edwards also spoke with Law before last month's draft. When you factor in the Chiefs' surplus of cash (they have $9 million of cap space to play with), their refusal to draft a cornerback in the first round (they say they needed a pass-rusher like defensive end Tamba Hali more than they needed a young corner) and Law's dwindling options (how many teams can afford to accommodate his demands for a $10 million bonus?), that leaves Kansas City as the front-runner. Law may be talking with the Patriots and the Titans, but even his agent admits that Kansas City is in the best position to sign him.

(how many teams can afford to accommodate his demands for a $10 million bonus?)A lot of them I think. 8-9 million is supposedly the average amount of cap space for teams right now.

King this was obvious earlier?

Prying the signing bonus from Lamar's wallet is likely the issue....

He was asking about a $10M signing bonus. Cap room has precious little to do with that.

With that in mind, the Chiefs (knowing how they do business) would have to offer him at least a six year deal. How many years of that deal would he finish, and how long would he stay at corner before making the inevitable change to free safety?

Actually, there are two salary caps. The NFL cap and the Lamar Hunt cap. Law would have to fit under both. Highly unlikely.

As much as it pains me to say it, we will not see Ty Law. I am sure we will offer no more than the league minimum.

Once again, there is no league minimum. We're talking about a SIGNING BONUS.

Actually, there are THREE salary caps. The two previously mentioned cap, and the Broncos' cap, which is roughly $13.3 million higher than the NFL cap.

Law will probably have to lower his price:

NFL | Law may have to lower his price

John Tomase, of the Boston Herald, reports free agent CB Ty Law (Jets) has still not received a contract offer to his liking. Law is reportedly asking for at least a $10 million signing bonus. The Kansas City Chiefs have been linked to Law as the most logical choice, but have refused to entertain that much money for the 32-year-old defensive back. The Chiefs have not invited Law for a visit or talked with the free agent, but Law remains in contact with Chiefs head coach Herm Edwards on a personal basis. The Tennessee Titans and New England Patriots are also said to be interested in Law, but the Titans are facing salary cap issues and the Patriots typically do not pay for high priced free agents.
