He will assume his new duties next week, after the amateur draft June 6-7.

It's like losing a preseason game. It doesn't actually count until the 8th.

I got ten bucks saying that Muzzy Jackson screws the pooch by not drafting Andrew Miller, but that Boras kid the Dodgers couldn't sign.

I have to believe that there's some kind of under-the-table agreement on the first pick. I understand what's going on regarding the rest of the draft, there's a clear conflict of interest, but that pick will be one of the things that defines his tenure here, even if he's not technically making it. And the Braves pick so much later that there's no impact on them at all. He needs to get his guy.

(And then write off everyone else we draft...)

St. Joe has a new AA ballteam, the Blacksnakes. They were playing this team from Fort Worth the other night, and the kid you are referring to was pitching for Fort Worth. There were probably 10-15 scouts in the crowd with radar guns.

Only game of theirs I've been to this year, but I have to say for a guy that is potentially this year's No. 1 overall, he didn't look that spectacular to me :|
