My ideal solution...

Limit subforums to 2 at any time in the Lounge... and swap between the following during the in-season and off-season:
-- Politics & Religion (sub forum during off season)
-- Pictures (sub forum during off season)
-- Casino Planet (sub forum during football season... swap with DC)
-- Draft Planet (sub forum during draft season... swap with pictures)

Alternate Forums (not a subforum):
-- Romper Room
-- Hall of Classics
-- Tickets: For Sale/Wanted
-- Archives

Roll Geeks Planet, Music Planet, Royals Lounge, Gilbert Brown Zone, etc back into the lounge.

personally it should be MusicPlanet, to me it's a waste of space. I like DraftPlanet, because during the year I hear alot of bitching when I talk about draft prospects beginning of the year.

GeeksPlanet served a purpose back when it was for technical support. I'm not sure I care for it in its current form. Royals Lounge and GBZ can go away. I almost killed them before I "left".

The fact that you're proposing Draft Planet as a sub-forum DURING football season blows my mind. Have you fully thought this proposal through? DraftPlanet absolutely needs to be a sub-forum January-May.

Jim pointed out that it's silly to have Draft Planet a subforum during the football season (as I had originally worded it). You are both absolutely correct, so i updated my suggestion accordingly. I'd say January-May is the perfect window for "draft season".

I disagree once the football season starts all the draft threads are pushed back by bullshit like 10 threads covering the same repeative shit. Then I get bitching during the beginning of season when I do talk about the draft so if you have DraftPlanet Icon where it was before the draft we wouldn't have that problem year after year.

A couple of comments...

1) Anyone bitching about someone posting football threads anywhere on this site should be banned on princple alone. I think you should post all you want about draft prospects in the main forum. That said...
2) If there is an "in-season" for draft talk, it's during the window Phil suggested.

I can understand DC being it's own little cess pit - it does tend to get a rash of spammy posts depending on what's in the headlines and which 'team' feels like they have the most crowing to do.

Draft Planet? - This is a fricken football board. If you get your panties in a bunch over football related topics, you're probably on the wrong board in the first place.

Music Planet? - It's a social thing as most of the board is about anyway, and it's not like it gets that many threads such that the topic clutters the main board.

GeeksPlanet? - I could go either way on this. It's nice that threads stick around a long time, so people having PC trouble can see response to similar issues.

BTW, I fully support the mods dumping threads on the main board in the offseason so everyone can see what it would be like if there were no sub-forums and make an informed decision about how to organize the board.

Funny you should ask, since you're certainly a contributing factor to its demise.

The guy who rips on rival fans posting on the BB, yet brings his colors-sporting Broncos fan wife to a Chiefs/Redskins game.

The guy who talks character, yet wishes other people's family members dead because they don't get all weepy over some piece of shit rapper getting blown away.

Being a dick is no risk for you - it comes naturally. So does being an asshole, a goon and a hypocrit. You're the total package.

DC and MusicPlanet are popular forums regardless of season, they should both be kept. I love the DraftPlanet, and it seems a good place to keep the FFL thread as well. But if we MUST choose between those 3, then DraftPlanet should be a seasonal forum only, from Feb-April perhaps.

One more time...

Posts do not get moved to that forum from the first few pages. It's more of an archive than anything else, that allows someone to find a thread without having to bring the server to its knees performing multiple searches looking for the latest "what is everyone listening to?" topic. It takes up about 30 pixels of space ono the page, for crying out loud.

Where's that "now playing" thread again? Bob Dole wanted to add something...

Oh, because I haven't hopped on the cromagnon bandwagon to abuse everybody new that comes here, I've tucked my junk? Whatever. I'm also curious to know who the other charter members of the BB a-holes are, although I assume they pale by comparison to the current BB a-holes. Dick.

You really can be a dick. But so can Skip. It's sort of like an institution around here. Who the hell takes either of you seriously?

And exactly what was Fraz supposed to say to your wife?

Perhaps I'm mistaken, but I thought the DraftPlanet was created for those who wanted to participate in detailed mock draft and prospect discussions, not those who wanted them moved cause it cluttered the main Lounge. There is a distinct difference.

The reason why I like DraftPlanet, because their's just enough dumbasses that will put up 10-20 threads concerning LJ,DJ, Trent every damn day which has already been discussed. I like DraftPlanet to keep the conversation specifically on the draft when the season starts, and not pushed back by bullshit.

Moved was not the best phrasing, I admit. I meant more the creation of a sub-forum in itself, so we could 'move' our discussions over there, and not wade thru multiple pages to find the latest draft discussions. Anyway, I just thought it was the DraftPlanet participants themselves who preferred that particular arrangement, rather than a forced exile type of situation. But maybe I'm mistaken...

I've no issue if that forum is scrapped, I'll still find the topics and join, no matter where they are.

I voted Music Planet, but only because I think those threads would do better in the Lounge.....and aren't nearly as divisive as the Political threads.

I think DC Listed as a SubForum in the Lounge is a reasonable compromise--at least during the 'off-season'.....say late January through late July or even August.

As I've said in a couple of other threads, a lot of us were/are just sick and tired of the constant and relentless bashing and negativity by a handful of posters over there; and we didn't even want to see it listed in the subforums as a reminder....at least DURING the season. In the off-season, at least, it belongs alongside the other forums. As Logical and others have said, despite it's decline....it's still the second most visited and posted forum on the Planet. JMHO.

If people don't want to click on it, they don't have to.....
