Doesn't mean it's new, as I'm not up to date on the latest releases.

I had a friend burn me a copy of The Recanteurs album called Broken Boy Soldiers. Anyone hear of it? Anyone like it? I do.

Wow. Either no one has heard of it, no one likes it, or I'm just not very popluar amongst the music crowd.

I bought it for my Fiance she's a huuuge White Stripes fan so Jack White being in the band one thing lead to another and I bought that sumbitch for her.

Or find something, no matter how trivial, that connects the band with TOOL or Rush.

The Wailin' Jennys are a band I just 'discovered' not too long ago. Traditional country probably be considered 'alt country'.

I heard that a current pop star and a friend of hers were going to start a country duet. I can't remember who, though.

Michelle Branch is from Jerome or Sedona AZ. She played at a bar in Jerome called "The Spirit Room". I've been there - pretty neat bar.

that's Jack White and a friend...I've only heard one song on the radio, "Steady As She Goes".....it's ok, pretty repetitive...but I'd rather just pop in a White Stripes CD...just my two cents

check out the Artic Monkeys...a slighty more ass-kicking indie band, with accents to boot...

New [to me] music:

• Days of the New
Yes, I know I am hopelessly out of date, but I discovered them at Pandora.com. They have an interesting sound. Some of the more experimental stuff clunks on my ears, but a lot of it is quite fresh.

• Sleepthief
Similar to Conjure One or Delerium, with a bit less trance and bit more melodic line.

• Neko Case
The #1 reason to take a test drive at emusic.com. A stunning voice and an alt-country-ish sound. Give her a listen. She also sang for The New Pornographers, doing more mainstream-ish music.

Its actually just a he. One multi talented and big headed musician, but very talented none the less.

I really enjoyed his second release "II". He brings out a recorder in the song Weapon and the Wound. The whole CD has a very "foresty" feel to it.

They've got one that goes:

You've got to learn to live and live & learn.
You've got to learn to give and wait your turn...
Or you'll get burned.

Not sure the name of the song, but I like it.

Together - The Raconteurs

You and me forever
We belong together
And we'll always endeavor
Through any type of weather

You want everything to be just like
The stories that you read, but never write
You've gotta learn to live and live and learn
You've gotta learn to give and wait your turn
Or you'll get burned

We wrote our names down on the sidewalk
But the rain came and washed them off
So we should write them again on wet cement
So people a long time from now will know what we meant

You want every morning to be just like
The stories that you read, but never write
You've gotta learn to live and live and learn
You've gotta learn to give and wait your turn
I'm only concerned

I'm adding something new to the mixture
So there's a different hue to your picture
A different ending to this fairytale
And no sunset into which we sail

You want everything to be just like The stories that you read, but you can't write You've gotta learn to live and live and learn
You've gotta learn to give and wait your turn
Or you'll get burned

If you ever wonder about the name of a song and you know a few of the lyrics, you can google for it by including a quote from the song and the word "lyrics." I found this by googling "'Or you'll get burned' lyrics"

I found it interesting that you brought up both Days of the New and Neko Case here. Yesterday, I ran across my Days of the New CD (the "Orange" album) that I hadn't listened to for at least 3 years, and I put it in for a listen. I had forgotten just how good that CD was.

Just a while ago, I was listening to the "Coffee House" station on SIRIUS, and I heard this voice that I had never heard before. Normally, I keep this channel on for background music, but this was something that I had to check out. Anyway, it ended up being "Star Witness" by Neko Case. After hearing that song, I instantly put "Fox Confessor Brings The Flood" down as my next CD purchase.

Fox Confessor is a great album. Her earlier releases are more 'countryish'. "The Virginian" and "Furnace Room Lullaby" are really good. All are really good actually. The song "Furnace Room Lullaby" is just haunting.

I like emusic for some stuff. Although I gotta admit that I've never paid for anything from them. I've had free trials a couple times. Most recently I downloaded
LynchMob - Smoke This and
Adema - Planets
