Would we have any interest this time around??

Wow, wasn't he starting for them?

yep, he was starting for them. We should have never let him go in the first place. I'm afraid the money isn't there to get him back. I would love to see him in the red and gold though.

yeah, I thought even Vermeil stated that it was his biggest error as Chiefs coach was letting him go

at least part of the time he was ... basically as a rookie too

surprised by that move

would be a good backup for us ... maybe replace shields next year.

The question is, why did the Colts release him?

Iowanian
06-07-2006, 09:14 PM
Indeed...Why?

I'll wager the Chiefs are looking into it, if there isn't
a good reason for him to be released.

Manning needed a guy to throw under the bus for the 'protection problems' and they couldn't afford to take the cap hit of letting go of Tarik Glenn

This could be good news. I wonder what is wrong with him!

Did they draft another Guard with a high pick?

I hated the move when we released him. However, after watching him on TV whenever I could, I saw him get owned more than I saw him play well. It doesn't surprise me much that he got released.

Lilja is a Chiefs fan so I bet he has already contacted them. It will be interesting to follow this story.

If he's willing to come back at a minimal contract, I'de like to see him take a 2nd tour through KC. He looked to have alot of potential in KC befor attempting to put him on the PC. Bring him back and let him learn from one of the best guards of all time.

Could we get a source for this please? I've looked on ESPN, CNNSI, NFL, Colts website, Indy newspaper, KC newspaper...nothing regarding this

It's on KFFL... They're pretty reliable with their information.

Let's try this in alphabetical order: First, we get Law..then we get Lilja.

Thanks, NFL.com has a list of team transactions from the last week, including today, and there is no mention of it.

Remember , the Cory Dillon ordeal, when they took comments off CP and actually tried to pass it off as fact that KC signed him. I'll reserve my judgement on this until other sources come forth

He said down in last seasons pro bowl that it was the letting go of Donnie Edwards that he regretted the most from what I hear from someone on here.

Ok, that's fine to not like the guy but to act like he makes player personel decisions is absurd.

I never said that. The previous poster said that.

And yes, it is absurd. Doesn't change the fact that I don't see him as much of a team player.

Scanlon would never accept help. He is too good. Or BAD in this case. :)

I don't go up to KC but 3 times a year or so, but this would be the first thing to OPEN in Bannister Mall since 1996, right? :)

Sorry, but I drive by there constantly when I'm in KC. My grandparents live about 5 blocks south of Bannister, just off of Hillcrest. This, I'm sure, makes the joke funnier to me, seeing the decay.

If Scanlon were to open a business in Bannister Mall, it would revitalize the entire business district there. The money would start rolling in.

Well then, for my Grammy and Grampy's sake of a good real-estate investment, let it happen!

That place gives me the heebie jeebies now. It used to be a cool place to hang out where we'd actually get dropped off (when I was like 13). Now that I'm 22, I'm scared to death.

Please, Rich?

I know what you mean. I used to go there all the time in the late 80's when it was really the place to be. It is just a dump now.

I'm not sure I understand all the "maybe we can get him back" posts. The guy was an undrafted rookie, and he just got cut from a team that isn't exactly loaded with O-linemen.

I don't think I'd want him over any of the guys currently on our roster. What's with the love affair?

Not a great athlete, but he's tough and he's bright. Wouldn't mind having him here, again.

Keep in mind guys, that while he was a starter for Indy, their O-Line had some issues, and perhaps in the grand scheme, he's not yet a real starter material.

If we could get him for a reasonable price, I'd love to get him back for OG depth, as it looks once again as Welbourne could be playing RT, rather than his natural guard position.

So you would prefer we keep that training camp roster spot open for someone else?

I tend to agree with this post. But, if cheap, what's the hurt in bringing him in for the camp.

Also, isn't Lilja pretty undersized?

I dont think he was cut, I believe he was taken from the practice squad or when trying to clear waivers. DV was mad that they spent so much time grooming then only to lose him because of the player limit he so much hated.
