I am getting have gotten quotes for replacing my central ac unit. To replace the unit and the coils plus evaporator I have been given quotes that range from 2300-3700. All of those units are 2 ton 24000 btu SER 13. The lowest price unit is a Luxaire (2300) and the high end unit is a York series(3780). Would I be out of line to ask the companies (either the high end or low end price) if this is the best price they have on the unit. I am figuring these units are marked up, which I am fine with, I understand they need to make some money, but I am figuring they are probably marked up substantially or they are making a lot on the install. Any advice (good or informative) would be greatly appreciated.

Anything over $100 is negotiable. The more expensive it is, the more negotiable it is.

Good info. I will take a look.

Ok, took a look and they don't discuss prices. But I did find a lot of usefull info about other issues.
