I just got a laptop for $399 after rebate from Office Depot. No, it isn't a smoker, but for $399, what do you expect?

15.4" WXGA Ultrabright LCD
Mobile Sempron 3300+
512mb ram
80gb hd (only 4200 rpm)
windows xp home
dvd DL burner
built in wifi
4 usb 2.0 ports, firewire, multimedia card reader

I got a similar deal on a Toshiba last summer. It had a similar level of specs (for that time) and I've been nothing but completely happy with it.

Well, I went throught the Gateway site and it couldn't find any retailers within 120 miles that carried the product. I guess you are saying don't worry about what Gateway says huh?

Did you get yours here in Topeka?

One is a MIR, the other didn't print off so the manager just took $200 +tax off my initial purchase price.

I just called my local office depot and they said that it only has one $200 rebate. Not 2. Guess you got lucky.

I guess the question is, is this still a bargain at $599.

Not a huge deal to create another thread about but i bought a P4 HP with 512 ram with crt 17 monitor dvd-rom cd-rw xp bla bla bla for 200 bucks the other day from a guy at work. I have been using it for two weeks. It is pretty good. Of course now i have two sekstops and wires going everwhere. I should have just bought a laptop but if i see any kind of electrical shit i have to buy it.
