Yeah, Petty laid it down for two hours when he was here last summer. He didn't have to do that. I keep checking his site to see when he's coming back. I heard this might be one of the last times.

That was maybe the best concert I've seen in my short 20 years on this planet. He and the band were just on in front of a sold-out Verizon. I had like 8th row seats, it was great.

You are bad-ass.

Thank you.

I'm a big fan of many dark/black/goth metal bands, but I have a strong preference for the female vocalists i.e. Tarja, Sharon den Adel, Liv, Vibeke Steen and the like. Never got into Lacuna Coil. Don't care for the gutteral growling vocals that are so perveyant in music today. I like folks that can actually sing, like the guy from Sonata Arctica and Ville Vallo from H.I.M. .

Still waiting on the next great metal vocalist...

Finally picked this up, wasn't sure what to expect since it was their first album in 24 years, but I really enjoyed it. Especially the 'mini-opera' that ends the album, that was the highlight for me.

Yeah, I didn't like Kristoffer Gobel nearly as much as Matthias. I was overjoyed when I found out they brought him back for the Northwind recording (which I haven't heard yet). Actually, I haven't heard Grime vs. Grandeur either. I felt let down by Scepter of Destiny, so I kind of gave up on them until I heard Matthias was back.

next up: "Within a Mile of Home" Flogging Molly

I had never heard System of a Down before; my son told me to give them a try. They weren't really bad at all but I must admit I burst out laughing 3 or 4 times at the "strange" voice inflections and changes the lead singer made. I doubt if that was the response he was looking for.

The lead singer. I doubt if any singer wants their efforts to elicit laughter unless it's Wierd Al.

I admit I've listened to the album twice already and I'll no doubt listen to it again. I enjoyed it but maybe not for the right reason.

Cowboy Mouth - Voodoo Shoppe

Did anyone go to see this show tonight at the Voodoo Lounge? It's probably just getting started right now. I wanted to go, but my wife has to get up early tomorrow so she wasn't interested and the friend I asked was busy.
