I have 5 losses there, maybe we can win one of them, though we will probably drop a game or two we should win like always.

With the two toughest road games coming in the first 5 games, it will be hard to come out of the gate better than 3-2. And with two division road games plus Jacksonville in the last three, it will be hard to finish strongly.

I expect us to be looking at playoff scenarios up until the very last game. Schedule looks less favorable than it might appear at first glance because of the way the games are situated.

We have a great record at home in December - too bad only 2 of those 5 December games are at Arrowhead.

Having a Florida team that may be pining for the last playoff spot at home in week 17 could prove to be our ace in the hole - at least let us control our destiny, perhaps. I don't think anyone expects Jacksonville to beat the Colts for the division, so you have to figure they will be looking for a wild card spot. You can almost write that one down as do or die right now.

Barring major TC injuries, or key injuries in game 1, I think we win in Denver this year. No science to see here folks, I just think we will have a rythym that shanarat can't grasp yet... as for the season, 10-6 to 12-4 ... or an implosion and an under .500 finish.

How come so many people think Cleveland is a loss?

I mean, that is a 3rd place or last place team in their division. Charlie Frye is going to be quarterbacking them. They have more or less no playoff hopes at all. And people write Cleveland down as a loss at home...?

The only games that I'm dreading are at Denver and at Pittsburgh. I thought last year was our year to win at Denver, and we got nailed. I'm skeptical about this team winning at Denver because they don't do it very often. Maybe Herm can bring a defensive scheme that can stop the bleepin' bootleg. I think his coaching philosophy can created more problems for Denver than Vermeil's.

As for the Pittsburgh game, you gotta respect the champs. This is different compared to the Seahawks game at Arrowhead, which I have the Chiefs winning. I can see the Chiefs keeping it close with the Steelers, but somehow not being able to win. Maybe I'm giving the champs too much credit.

I'd say hey way to not be a homer. That is until I saw you giving the Chargers with Rivers the nod. No way.

Rivers had a couple years on the bench to get ready for the role of starting QB. While I don't think the Chargers are the best run organization in the world I also don't believe they would have put themselves in the situation they did if Rivers wasn't better than Brees in some perspective.

You don't need Joe Montana in the backfield when you have LaDainian Tomlinson and Antonio Gates to dump the ball off to.

Just a guess, nothing more.

Now the reasoning to go with the prediction.

Offense age really starts to show, big drop off in offense due to age and change in philosophy. I think a lot of people were fooled last year by the yardage when point production went way down.

Defense - expect confusion to reign supreme for 5 or 6 games then we will still have the shortcomings at DT and a huge gaping hole at the #2 CB spot. I expect improvement to around 17 to 19 in the league in defense but that is about it for this year.

Special Teams - Dante is on the decline an people did not seem to want to admit it last year (plus they change the way the penalties are called to really hurt us) however I expect our coverage teams to do much better this year.

Coaching - This is not a brilliant group of coaches nor is it a pile full of rocks. They will do an adequate if unexciting job.

You're forgetting about Larry Johnson. If Thorpe and Parker step up, our offense will be just as good. The ONLY reason our point production fell off was Roaf's injury.

I am also expecting some bad defense early on. Blown assignments in the cover 2 = HUGE plays for the opposing offense.

7-1 at home (lose to either Seattle or Denver; the rest of the home schedule is "meh"), and then we have the real question: how well can we play on the road?

My guess right now is that we win at Arizona (don't buy the hype; they'll be .500 at best), at Miami (similar hype) and at Oakland, giving us an all too familiar 10-6 record and a tentative playoff berth.

A solid 11-5 is the best that I see, possibly taking the AFC West, with a 1st round playoff victory at home vs. Jacksonville, Denver, or Miami wild card entry. However, 11-5 may not be good enough for the division crown, in which case I see a Wild Card, and 1st round loss at New England or Pittsburgh, maybe Denver (ouch!).

Possible losses @ Arizona, vs. Seattle, and vs. Jacksonville could drop us to 8-8, or anywhere in between.
