Leaving tomorrow morning to go there just wondering if anyone that had been there could give me a review.

It is old and stuffy, but at least it is expensive.

It was the "in" place to stay in the '60s. :D

However, I can not think of anyplace any better in that concrete jungle.

I remember thinking the same thing about the Waldorf Astoria. The lobby was magnificent and palacial, but other than the phone and the TV, my room was like traveling back in time to the '60s.

That is pretty accurate, my Dad still talks about staying at the Drake during the '68 National Convention. I was in there a while back, and got the same feeling you mention. I hope for Crispy's sake that it is better than that.

I just priceline a room when I go to Chicago, I usually stay at the Westin or the Hyatt on Michigan Ave. Both are fine. The Drake is a little to far away from the action if you ask me, and it is old and stuffy...

If you are looking to impress, stay at the Peninsula on Michigan Ave.

Yeah, it was pretty much a relic, nothing dilapidated or in poor repair, but definitely dated.

'Course, as I stayed there for the IL Bar exam, I wasn't in relaxation mode, so my assessment might be overly harsh. What I remember as dated, might come off as comfy, or homey, in other circumstances.

I stayed at the Hilton Chicago once. Does that help?

Of course it doesn't!

I have stayed there once or twice....depends on what you are looking for as to whether or not you will like it.

If you want a decent hotel to stay at on the Mag Mile try the Intercontinental....

Someone suggested the Peninsula....nice place but WAY TOO expensive when you can get a nice hotel on the Mag Mile for a lot less.

Stayed there for a weekend once. It was not cheap but the history of it made it worth it.
