OK, my current computer program (Nero) refuses to read or write anymore. Says it has "expired" and I need to renew the subscription.

What I'm looking for is something relatively simple - I'd like to be able to take songs from several of my current cd's and combine them on one cd. Downloading is not really an option as I am currently on dial-up and don't plan on changing soon. What's a good program to install? All help is appreciated. :thumb:

What OS are you using?

You might like Audiograbber. This "rips" the tracks from your CD. I think it works for WIN 95/98/ME/NT/2K/XP. Here's a link to download:

Do you need a CD burner program as well?

Thanks for the reply. I'm having trouble navigating ChiefsPlanet right now - seems really slow and keeps kicking me off. :(

Windows XP home edition and I've got a CD/DVD read/write burner on my computer - just the software that came with it seems to have "expired". I had burned cd's before, but not for quite a while.

Yeah, I'm having some slowdown issues myself. That Audiograbber program will help you get the music off the CD's and onto your PC, it has a built in CDDB that identifies each track as well if you set it up that way. I have the XP Media Center edition and I can just right click and burn stuff but you might need a burner prgram. Those are pretty easy to find for free on Google.

Many thanks again for the information. I'll check google for a burner program and check back later to see if anyone else has any suggestions. I've read some of the audiograbber information and it sounds pretty good. I would like a program that could rip the music off of one cd and put it onto another and not have to use two different programs though.

As you can tell, I'm not exactly a computer whizz.

Good luck. I learned by messing around on my computer. It took two $60 trips to the computer repair place to get a few things through my skull but I do alright now. A combo ripper/burner is better but I haven't found a good free one yet. Maybe someone will come along who has...

Damn! I just clicked on download for http://www.cdburnerxp.se/ and got an estimated download time of a little over an hour. :shake: Dial-up definitly sucks big time.

Is there is music service out there that takes individual tracks from albums and consolidates them for a fee? I've got lots of songs from individual cd's that I'd love to put on one cd. For example; "She Hates Me" by Puddle of Mud; "Hell's Bells" by AC/DC; "Once Bitten, Twice Shy" by Great White; "Rock On" by Def Leppard; "Lips of an Angel" by Hinder; "Rag Doll" by Aerosmith; "Thunder Kiss 65" by Rob Zombie; and "Black Horse and the Cherry Tree" (or something to that effect) by KT Tunstall.

As you can see, I've got a strange and varied taste. (Also some Otis Redding and John Lee Hooker would be included in my "dream" cd.

You might want to try the new Napster but I don't know what the prices are like.
