Royals up 4-0 in the 4th.

Mientkiewicz doubled home Graff in the 1st.

Teahen homered in the 2nd.

Emil Brown had a 2 RBI single in the 3rd.

Toronto is hitless so far against Redman.

Teahen homered in the 2nd.

Really? Maybe he is finally settling down at the plate.

I noticed on ESPN baseball that the tardinals are prolly wishing they had a 2bman.

That steel gloved Miles just had a ball go 'clank' off him. Again.

Funny thing is that I bet that the Cards would had liked to have Grudz back.

Oh, and Redman is dealin.

By the way... on the much maligned Royals' blog today, Dayton Moore answers about 1 billion questions.

http://royals.mlblogs.com/

Pretty good read.

The most interesting thing is someone asks him about Gordon, Butler, etc... and he said "realistically", they're in AA this year and you would expect them to be in AAA next year. Which goes against every fan and analyst thinking that Gordon is coming soon. He appears to be very patient in terms of developing these guys.

Butler is obvious, his defense needs a lot of work

and it would be dumb not to let Gordon go back to his home state to play ball.

Good ....... why bring them up just to get beaten down on a stinky team.

keep them down where they can develop and not start their free agency clock until you got a team worth playing them on.

i don't think you trade away all your veterans this year either.

trade sweeney to get his salary off your books ... but keep grud, miek, redman etc.

and add more veterans (salary) next year.

maybe we can turn around all this losing, poluted attitude and stock our minor leagues for 2008.

Redman might bring a pretty decent player in return right now.

Royals win, Royals win. Redman shut down the #1 offense in baseball... now that's an all-star performance.

I don't think that's the question at all....you've got Alex Gordon playing 3rd right now in Wichita. Do you move Teahan to 1B or move Gordon to 1B/OF?

Tards down to last out in Houston. Lidge will close them out.

Funny as hell watching them disintegrate in June/July.

The amazing part is somehow they've stayed in first place the whole time. Although now they've let the Brewers and Astros right back into the race.. it's a true four team race now, should be pretty exciting.

Because his value will never be higher. He's not somebody you build around.

Yeah Laz... Sweeneys trade stock is skyrocketing... everyone wants him.

i imagine he'll get back into the lineup pretty soon and do some good things.

hopefully enough good things so we can trade him for a bag of Doritos and a beer.

as long as we get his 12 million dollar per year contract off our payroll.

Coach

If the Cards don't get their pitching together by mid-august, I don't think they'll be going anywhere. They'll be looking for something by or before July 31st.

Mr. Laz

Because his value will never be higher. He's not somebody you build around.
but aren't we trying to break this cycle of losing that keeps destroying every young player we bring up?

don't worry about building at the major league level right now.... worry about getting a team together that can win enough so that when we bring up new young players they don't get pummeled.

We'd still have to pay him. We don't really have anything to lose by holding onto him and letting him DL as long as he needs.

Will the Royals be buyers this winter on the free agent market for starting pitchers? Kevin, Atlanta, Ga.

Yes. We’ll evaluate all opportunities to acquire starting talent. Again, we are looking to do things for the long term not for the short term. Any acquisition that we make will be with the long term success of the Kansas City Royals in mind.
