I am about to get a screaming deal on a Philips 42" HD Plasma. It is model Philips 42PF7320A. I have never seen worse reviews on something that I have gone ahead and purchased. Should I back-out? I am getting this set for $1,300 and it sells for $1,700 at Costco.

Anyone have one of these?

I am buying from a friend so I won't be able to be unreasonable if it is not a good set.

If the reviews are really that bad I would not get it.

TV sets are going down in value, especially used. I would tell your friend $900 cash, you can site the bad reviews as your reasoning for the "Wholesale" offer on their used TV. A a Pawn Shop will give them $350 for it.

why is he selling it? But I'd look the TV up here first and read about some other people's experiences with it. http://www.avsforum.com/

edit: here's a thread about your TV http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=551202&highlight=Philips+42PF7320A

They usually have an owner's thread for just about everything so it's always good to check out anything you're considering here first

I have had it's big brother, the 50 inch, a little over a year with no problems. I gave a lot of money to Best Buy for it and have been very happy.

Don't buy it from your friend.

If he's trying to unload it their is a reason. The reviews don't lie. He made a bad deal and wants you to take it off his hands.

If he is your friend he wouldn't try this.

Is Your friendship is worth more than his moving the TV to you.

I'm with the 800-900. 3 times a pawn shop price.

He could try it in the local paper may get $600-700.

It is a new TV and he runs an electronics shop. Philips just sold him 150 of these in 42" and 50".

From Zdnet.
Most reader reviews say it's pretty good.

Last reader says it has reliability problems.
