View Full Version : Has this been asked before? Why not Dante Hall, HB

What's Dee Brown's outlook?

Would you ever consider (If you had the authority) to put Dante Hall as backup HB instead of WR?

Think about it. Sure he's small, but maybe could be the finesse runner to appear out of nowhere to get the 1st.

Jsut a thought-starter, folks. God forbid anything ever happens to LJ, we'd need some depth.

That was his position in college.

I don't think it would be a good idea. He would take a beating in the pros. I'm just fine with him catching passes in the flats, or on a seam.

It'd be like Darren Sproles taking 30 a game. It wouldn't work.

We have Q. Dante can't take the punishment, plus we need him on Special teams.

Q or Dee Brown can take the RB hits.

Dante too valuable to risk that.

You try to get Dante in one on one matchups so that he can use his speed an ellusiveness to get by people, but because of his size you really don't want to run him between the tackles very often. You may be able to toss him a pitch out a couple times, and use him for a decoy and safety valve a couple times a year, but not enough to be considered a backup. Plus, I really don't think he could block an incoming LB or DE without being ran over every time.

no way.

he would get destroyed the first time he hits a whole.

IMO if a guy is considered too small to be a WR, switching him to RB is not the best idea

OK, figure we do a decent job on defense and allow 14 points per game - that's a minimum of 3 kickoffs, right? Then figure if the score is higher, then there will be more touches there, otherwise it'll be punt returns, so maybe there's another 4 or 5 opportunities per game. Throw in a couple of novelty plays on offense and now Dante is up to 10 touches per game.

He's not getting any younger and he's bound to start breaking down in some areas of his game. More carries will mean more hits, especially as long as Lynch is in the division.

Other than the punishment angle, Dante just isn't very good (as a RB) finding and committing to the running holes when he's behind the LOS. He does fine with the quick reverses, but that's because he has to commit to the outside running lane.

too jittery for HB ... you gotta run upfield a good portion of the time and he doesn't.

He is not small dude, he is miniature. He would get hurt. Bad. Only good with some space, and there ain't enough space for a rb in the NFL.

With our Defense, it might be worth a try.
