I have this weird pimple on the back of my neck that has been there at least since 1991. Every month or so, it gets full and I squeeze it until this stanky stream of white pus comes out. The smell of it is quite rancid...

Its very peculiar, I have known one other person who has one of these random forever zits. At least it is on the back of my neck and not in a visible place.

Anyone else experience anything about this or know of anyplace to get information about removing it?

just ice it everyday until it goes away..it will reduce the swelling and make the redness go away just like a bump on your forehead..

I have the same thing. Mine is not really visible, I can just feel it there and it bugs the hell out of me. The puss that comes out of mine is white and about the consistancy of butter. I've been told that you have to have it lanced to remove the tissue that is causing the inflamation. I have a few moles that need to be removed, and I will probably have it all done at once.

You are right, that stuff is aweful smelling....

Be a man and take the side cutters or large toenail clippers to it. Cut it deep below the skin.

Sebaceous cysts
Sebaceous cysts are sacs just beneath the skin that are filled with an oily, white, semisolid material called sebum. If the sebum becomes infected, the cyst will be red and painful. Sebaceous cysts are commonly seen on the scalp, labia, scrotum, chest, and back, but can be found anywhere on the body.

Epidermal cysts are also known as epithelial or infundibular cysts and present as intradermal or subcutaneous tumours that grow slowly and occur on the face, neck, back and scrotum. Trichilemmal cysts, also referred to as pilar cysts, are clinically indistinguishable from epidermal cysts. They were formerly called sebaceous cysts but do contain keratinous rather than sebaceous material. Trichilemmal cysts are usually multiple. There is often an autosomal dominant inheritance. The cysts generally have a round appearance. A black, dark portion of the cyst is visible on the skin. If squeezed, the cysts exude a stringy, cheesy white material. If the cysts become infected, they will become red and tender. Sebaceous Cysts are primarily a cosmetic problem or a nuisance if they form in body regions that are easily irritated, such as the armpit. These cysts are benign and do not develop into cancer.

The skin has tiny glands under the surface which makes sebum. This is the 'oil' that makes the skin smooth. If a gland's duct (channel) becomes blocked the sebum is still made. This then fills up the blocked pore to form a cyst. The matter inside the cyst has the appearance of toothpaste. Sebaceous cysts tend to develop in teenagers because of an interaction among hormones, sebum, and bacteria. During puberty, the glands in the skin produce excessive sebum. In skin that is prone to acne, the sebum and dead skin cells clog the hair follicles and form comedones, or clogged pores. A comedone may break through the pore wall underneath the skin and release its contents. This causes a pimple or pustule. If this substance is released deep into the skin it will cause a sebaceous cyst.

I had one of those, except it never popped- just got a little bigger every year. Finally had it sugically removed about 5 years ago- they did indeed have to cut out the sac that was producing the nasty stuff. Sure glad it's gone...

Boy, this sounds familiar. I have had (and still do have a few) Pilar cysts, in my scalp. Literally, I am a knothead. A couple of them have broken over the years, and the descriptions heard here are accurate: Smelly, nasty stuff. Mmmmm.

A few of them grew so large that I had to begin forgoing haircuts so they wouldn't show. When I got tired of being a shaggy mess, I had a dermitologist remove them. The largest was the size of a damn golf ball, a little white sac, like a balloon filled with cottage cheese.

Sure. That's why it's my dark, dark secret. And 25 years from now, when we're married and she accidentally discovers me popping a zit in the bathroom, squeezing so hard that it's making tears run down my face...well if she judges me because of it, then she never loved me anyway.

Strangely enough, this thread actually makes me feel better. I have a couple on my scalp and occasionally some in my armpits, and wow can they hurt. I've had a couple of them removed but that's a pain in and of it self, not to mention how long it actually takes for the wound to heal. They have a type of antibiotic that over time totally stops the glands from producing the oils, but from what I hear the side affects are hellish. Skin gets horrible dry and flakey, you can’t go out in the sun, just all kinds of stuff. I think the treatment takes about six months and afterwards, no more problems ever. Anyone ever heard of this treatment before?

Hey, Ari Chiefs, would you mind participating in an experiment? Please do this.

1. Weigh yourself.
2. Using fingernail polish and a band-aid, seal up the 15-year zit and don't mess with it during the remainder of the experiment.
3. Continue weighing yourself monthly over the next two years.

My theory is that, if we do this, we can get your body weight up to 50% stinky zit fluid.

Gotta back GC on this, it can develop an allure, almost a mild form of S&M.
I don't have much in the way of zits these days, but I do recall the painful ones, and the increased pain of squeezing them, then the immediate pain release on the pop.
I think it stemmed from when I was 10 or so and I'd hit my thumb with a hammer, and it got infected under the nail. Got to where the nail was green and the whole thumb throbbed in time with my pulse. Pops took a look at it, grabbed a sewing needle, and jammed that sucker under my thumbnail. The pain was excruciating, until he 'struck oil' and all that green junk squirted out, INSTANT and complete pain relief, very fascinating to a little kid.

Have I said too much?

Could it be a boyle? Because if it is then take some baking soda and water and make a paste out of it and put it on a bandage and cover it every night for a few days and in the mornings squeeze the shit out of it and the swelling of the "zit" should go down. If not, it's at least worth a shot unless you're not too concerned about it.
