View Full Version : sub forums: sub lounge?

While working on the code for the upgrade I discovered that I could easily move the sub forums to the bottom of the thread listing page instead of having them show up at the top. I know some people had thought it was a good idea in the past.

As is the case with most of the changes around here we try to leave it to our posters to decide how they want this place to look, so majority wins...

I'm used to it this way, so I like it this way.

BTW, is it possible to make the front page stop jumping around so much?

I should also add that I think we are almost a go on the vbulletin upgrade, I finished the At Work and Full Featured templates this weekend.

How are things jumping around? Or are you talking about on load?

Putting them on the bottom would be counter-intuitive and, honestly, just plain strange.

It's a given that you're going to have to scroll down to see all of the threads in the list, regardless of where the sub-forum list happens to be. Making someone scroll all the way through the Lounge threads just to get to one of the sub-forums is not good at all.

How would putting "Sub" forums below the Forum be counter-intuitive? :D

yes.

I guess there's nothing that can be done about that, except to remove all the new stuff on the front.

oh well

There is, but it actually makes it a lot uglier in Firefox.

Guys, I asked him to put this out to a vote.

I know that every time we made a subforum change, somebody invariably asked "Can you just put them at the bottom of the page?"

Now we know we can do it, so let's see what everybody thinks.

Um no.

The first big improvement we made after bringing Morph on board was to get rid of that crotchety old fart.

The lounge is the only forum with sub forums.

So, this is probably like a kid in the back seat asking "Are we there yet?" five times in ten minutes, but is there any timeline for trying to get this done yet?

P.S. Great job with everything! I'm just impatient.

Is this a possible sign that we will be converting to the long promised new server to help fix our problems with BB timeouts?

Ferrarispider95 and I got our website hacked yesterday. It's fixed now, but make sure there are no flaws. If there's one flaw they'll get ya.

Its would be hell to upgrade the server on our site and ours just started. I understand the difficulty it would be to upgrade a site as big as CP. I don't think a lot of people apreciate the work you have been doing.

I don't want anything shoved in the middle of my page, and just because some stinking Donkey fan says it sounds like fun doesn't mean you should want to try it either

Gaz was one of the people that mentioned this multiple times, so obviously the Gaz option was the first option.

I'm gonna let this one drop, though the poll will be open for a few more days.

I just hate having 10 stickys on top.

You could probably just close it now and take the results.
