Still shouldve signed Rocky Benard for MUCH cheaper at a position we really have had the biggest hole in.

Seriously though if Sims gets his ass in gear and Rocky playing beside him along with Hali and Allen, that would have given us a very solid Dline for many years to come. Ty Law will only play for at the most 2 more seasons.

Here's the link for anyone interested. Also I find it curious that he is giving NE a chance to match or exceed the offer. Exceed I understand, but match? If the dude isn't sure he wants to play here, f*ck him.

Chiefs | Team close to deal with Law
Sun, 23 Jul 2006 13:17:12 -0700

Nick Cafardo, of the Boston Globe, reports the Kansas City Chiefs are close to a deal with free agent CB Ty Law (Jets). The five-year deal is believed to be worth more than $30 million. According to an NFL source, the New England Patriots will have one final chance to match or exceed the Chiefs' offer. The Patriots extended an offer to Law, but at a level below what the Chiefs offered.

This is the point were some obscure team, swoops in out of the ****ing blue and snatches him from the both of us. Just sayin

Chiefs reach agreement with Ty Law

By ADAM TEICHER

The Kansas City Star

The Chiefs have agreed to terms of a five-year contract with veteran cornerback Ty Law, concluding months of negotiations and giving the Chiefs another piece as they rebuild their defense.
Law was to arrive in Kansas City on Monday, take a physical examination and, if all goes well, sign his new contract. He would then be able to participate when the Chiefs begin training camp Friday at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls.
Other contract terms were immediately unavailable.
“It got to a number where we were comfortable and they were comfortable,” Chiefs president/general manager Carl Peterson said. “Hopefully, he will be well worth the effort.”

You do realize by all reports the Chiefs offered him more money than Seattle did......most everything about the guy I read was he was going back to Seattle regardless. I know you keep bringing this up all the time but if a guy wants to go back to Seattle and you offer more money and he still goes back there isn't much you can do. There's nothing the Chiefs could do they made a better offer he just wanted to be in Seattle.

so we need another "hey everyone pay attention to Recx" thread?

You wouldn't know it by watching ESPN/ESPN2/ESPN News.

Not any mention of Law/KC on any of them... :cuss:

This thread was a great read. People busting jake and he turns out to be right.

Then: "You weren't right!!"... or ..."It had to happen sometime."

He wasn't right. He said official. It wasn't official when he posted it. The post he made with that thread starter didn't even look remotely promising to me. NE had the right to match the offer. That doesn't make him a Chief. It worked out, and I give him credit for the obscure boston.com find before anyone else found it. I even credit him for breaking the news that the deal was imminent. The contract still isn't signed. Law is still not "officially a Chief."
