1987? You might want to stop buying dairy products there.

Depends on if there is a rookie card in them or not. I can think of anyone that came out in 87, maybe bonds???

Unopened packs can be worth uite a bit depending on year and whatnot.

I definitely wouldn't open them.

The Fleer and Donruss cards are OK, that year was Bonds (aside from "traded" sets) and I think Maddux rookie year cards. I am sure there are even a couple more good ones, just can't think of them right now. If they are cheap, it wouldn't hurt to buy them for fun. Just don't plan on getting rich. It was only a few years later that those companies and others ruined the card game forever by saturating the market.

If they're dirt cheap; buy 'em.

Was that the year of Mark McGuire and/or Jose Consecos rookie cards?

The good McGwire one is 85 Tppps from the Olympic team. The most popular Canseco rookie was 86 Donruss.

See if you can talk them down by pointing out that the gum will be a risky chew.
