In other news.......the Bengals haven't signed any of their picks. That franchise is really keeping it together this offseason.

All we need is to take care of EK, TonyG, Jared Allen, LJ and Kawika Mitchell, but I guess some of those players can wait til after the season.

I could be wrong but I thought Chicago got theirs done weeks ago. But then again, their first pick was like 3rd round.

I don't recall, but is this a 1st for King Carl ? All rookies in camp on the 1st day ?

I'm not worried about EK because he has little leverage and I'm also not worried about TonyG cause he wants to retire a Chief and we should give him a good contract since TEs can play until they are old. I do worry about how we'll come up with the money for Jared Allen, LJ, and Kawika. If we have to, we'll franchise LJ, but it would be nice to get him a fat contract to show him some love. I wouldn't want to lose Mitchell or Allen cause we found them and developed them, and I would hate to see some other team benefit from that.

Still, Carl definitely deserves credit for this great offseason. The draft seems brilliant now that we got Law...the only bummer from this offseason was losing TRich, but that's part of the business.

Because Carl took too long to do it, I still consider him a dork,a nd will continue to do so unitil we win a few playoff games.

Nope.

My opinion of Carl has not changed one whit.

On some issues he rocks; on some issues he rocks considerably less.

Still, the haters will always find some excuse to blame him for anything short of perfection [See oh-so-predictable hawkchief post for corroborating evidence].

Has no complaint with how Carl has handled this off-season [and had to eat some serious crow over the whole Trent Green issue].

So he signs all the picks before any of the other GMs in all of the NFL, yet its not fast enough?

What can I say Carl has had two good offseasons in a row as far as player signings.

Well unless King Carl ponies up I'm guessing he's going home.

Carl has done a terrific job, think about everything he's accomplished in the last three years. He has overhauled the Defense, overhauled the Coaching staff and he demanded the 1st round pick of LJ. (4 years ago). The only thing he hasn't gotten us is the Lombardi, but he sure has given us the tools to do it. :toast:

He's not going anywhere.

Leaving camp will cost him up to $70k ($14k for every day he misses) in fines, and if he hasn't returned after 5 days, the team can petition the NFL to have his contract removed from their cap number.

Well that certainly would provide incentive to stay.

So all this is nothing more then a ploy to try to strong arm Carl into revamping the contract?

I feel pretty confident that CP will call that bluff, I would.

to the thread: Congrats to CP...last two years, with the excpetion of signing Woods, he's made lots of good moves...and inked lots of good contracts...

look at the talent we have now on both sides, lots of probowl caliber players....Lamar is spending his cash..we ain't the Royals...

They've been talking since March. This is a ploy to get SOMETHING out of Carl, because so far Carl has told him nothing but no.

I think it was a last ditch effort by Eddie's agent to try to get some money for Eddie. He miscalculated because the public reaction has mainly been "shut up and play" as opposed to overwhelming support.

The only thing Eddie could do, and I'm not sure it's in his nature, would be to act like TO and cause locker room strife and make controversial statements to Whitlock every week.
