View Full Version : Roaf not retiring?

So we hear he is going to retire, but then find out that he hasn't even filed the papers yet. Now if you read Roaf's quote in the KC Star article he said that this retirement was something decided weeks ago at the least. If it was decided weeks ago dont you think the necessary paperwork would have already been filed. This could be a motivator for the Chiefs to offer him more money or for him to miss a good portion of training camp. Who knows, he is defianetly able to miss training camp and be just fine. Id love to have this theory be true and since he convinced Will Shields to stay one more year then hopefully he can stay one more year too and make this our big run with our two all-world O-linemen.

On Mike & Mike this morning they stated the fine, approved by the NFLPA, for missing training camp was $18,000/day. If Roaf retires now, and then changes his mind about 8/29, does he avoid a massive fine.

Grunhard said on 610 that he did not turn in papers until 6 months after he made the announcement.

It means that the fact that Roaf's paperwork is not in, is an IRRELEVANT fact.

"What are the odds of a guy like you and a girl like me getting together?"

"About a million to one."

"Sooo you're telling me there's a chance..."

I just checked on the NFL site and could not find Victor Riley on any roster. I suspect he is available.

No, waiting to the last minute to file the papers means it's something he doesn't want to do, it's something he has to do...

I agree. But, from listening to Carl's interview, I think they're going to put the full court press on Willie to come back. Money, diamonds, hookers, special "please don't retire" Hallmark cards from Trent, Will, LJ, Herm. This will probably drag on for a while.

No he is NOT retired. Not officially. His interviewed really made it sound like he was clearly leaning toward retiring, but the paperwork hasn't been submitted at this point. He sounded like he wanted to play, but his body just couldn't take the wear and tear and he is ready to hang it up, but the curtain hasn't officially been drawn closed.

That what I got out of his interview. Honestly I cant blame the guy, wear and tear on your body plus the extra weight you have to carry around. I wish Willie the best, he has been a good player for us.

He made it very clear that a player could come out of retirement at anytime.

Incorrect. Willie clearly stated in his interview that the paperwork had indeed been submitted, weeks ago, to The Chiefs, The NFL Player's Association and another entity, which escapes me at the moment.

That was not what I was disputing. I was disputing the incorrect reporting by BigChiefFan that Roaf had not submitted the proper paperwork to retire from the NFL. It HAS been submitted.
