I use cell phones. Seriously. The wife and I have cell phones and we have another cell phone that we call the "house phone". That's what the kids use.

Well, I can relate, but I have 5 lines into my house, all are listed as home use. I have them set up on a firewall and 4 of them are rolled over into a AT&T 4 line phone for my business. I use 3 lines inbound, 1 as a fax and all of them are free long distance, except the primary line I use for business, I never call out on it. I never answer line 4, it's the fax line.

To change to another service, I have to be careful..... It's costing me around $ 280.00 per month for 5 lines and DSL.

Around here, I think it's Southwestern Bell. Or the cable company is offering phone service too. I haven't had a home phone for years though. Just the cell.

I use the monopoly AT&T

Was SBC not that long ago. Although, I use my cell almost exclusively. Verizon. Solid coverage out here.

Verizon. There's a phone attached to the line here somewhere, but I never use it. Only reason I even have the land line at all is to type this. And pr0n. Of course.

We are awfully close to that point as well. We have Time Warner for our home phone, but rarely use it anymore- I usually just whip out the Treo while Mrs. Zep has her Bluetooth on throughout the day. The old-fashioned home phone is pretty much gathering dust...

I personally use a cell phone all the time, but my family (parents, brother, and grandparents) all use Vonage. They used to spend around $75 per month on all their phone calls, but now it's around $30 with Vonage.

I have been using Vonage for a while now, not as reliable as land line, but hey, if someone needs to get ahold of me there is always our cell phone's.

People still have home telephones?

I dumped my land line two months ago. Of course, MCI refuses to believe it and keeps sending us bills. Maybe if we keep refusing to pay, they'll hire a collections company to start calling our non-existent land line to harass us.

Stick with AT&T. Soon they will also own Bell South. SBC (old Southwestern Bell) merged (or bought out) AT&T to make the new AT&T. Next up is Bell South.

Putting the monopoly back together again.

Who was your local service provider? If you disconnected your service, they probably never sent a disconnect to MCI.

The company I work for, FDN Communications - for the access gate here at the condo community. For everything else, I use the cell phone.

Qwest (ptooie, spit, spit). I'm sure they didn't do it, since that would require competence, so my wife called MCI and removed the service. We got a letter and everything, but now they insist on sending bills, too.
