What was the point of saying it was a competition? It was obvious bullshit from the start. Then 5 days in, you have a winner? Has Eric Mangina caught a case of the dumbasses from Jets upper management?

The fans will boo him back to china the first mistake he makes.

Only questions about Pennington's health even opened up the starting spot in the first place. According to reports his arm strength is better than expected and he finally seems to be over his injuries from the last few years.

Overall I think even a health Pennington is a liability at QB. Even at his best, his arm has been really questionable. He has a nice touch, but can't throw an out with enough velocity to keep it from being picked. Jets are screwed in that Pennington is just good enough that you think you have a good QB, when in fact you don't.

Man-gina should go back to opening day last year to refresh himself on what he is in store for.

Isn't their offensive coordinator a Schottenheimer anyway? Does it matter who their quarterback is?

Just want to let you know that Mangini was just on 1050 ESPN radio and stated that nothing has been decided.

Just another bad rumor.

Weird. ESPN 2 just scrolled it at the bottom of their sports ticker. Which ESPN do you believe?

When healthy, Pennington has been one of the highest rated QBs in the history of the league. Sure, he has a noodle arm, but he could be a really good WCO qb. Too bad they're not running the WCO anymore.

Jets | QB battle ongoing
Wed, 2 Aug 2006 10:08:54 -0700

Randy Lange, of the Bergen Record, reports New York Jets head coach Eric Mangini shot down reports stating QB Chad Pennington had won the team's starting quarterback job. Mangini said the battle is ongoing. Pennington even said that nothing had changed to his knowledge. While Pennington has looked sharper than his competition, the team's coaches have not yet declared a winner in the battle.
