And what players of note do you think will be let go? Of course I'm thinking it's mostly going to be free agents and guys like that.

I think there are two rounds of cuts in the preseason....one after the third game, and one after the fourth. Not sure.

Rosters are cut-down to 65 players on August 29th.

Rosters are cut-down to 53 on September 2nd.

I thought that was just a deadline?

Teams don't cut players before those dates? I haven't paid attention to that in the past.

Most cuts seem to be made then, but there are some that are cut a day or so before it.

Yes, it is a deadline. I'm assuming we'll see the first round of cuts after the third preseason game, because it's on the 26th. That gives them three days to cut about 30 guys.

We keep the 9 from NFLEL to play in the last preseason game, so actually we only cutdown to 74. And of course Svitek will make it along with probably Griffin.

Teams do sometimes, see Julian Battle. But they also need the bodies of these kids that teams even know they are going to cut to play out the preseason games and minimize the chances of key players getting injured.
