I had a thread like this once myself. I go to my internet options and clear my cookies and temporary internet files.

Oh yeah. That's it. I see it now. I didn't think deleting cookies sounded right. At least I was in the right place! :)

You mean autocomplete?

I don't know, I wish to clear the address bar history, it's not the same as web site history if that makes sense

Right click on the start button. Click properties. Click customize button. Hit the "clear" button next to the text "to remove records of recently accessed documents and websites visited".

Sometimes an entry (usually one you typed in wrong, it seems) gets saved into the address bar and stays there even after you try clearing everything out. PurgeIE is a program that's pretty good for clearing that kind of thing out, though.

Anybody know how to clear the address bar?

Just sneak into the bar and yell FIRE!!

BTW, I think "Address" is a stupid name for a bar.

a program like Window Washer is pretty handy to have.

clears the history, cache, address bar etc all at the same time.

run it once a week and you don't have to worry much. You can also set it to run automatically.

If you want to clear just one entry, click the dropdown button on the address bar, put the mouse over the entry you want deleted so that it's highlighted and then press SHIFT-DELETE on the keyboard.

I tried your solution, nothing happens.

I'm not using 2000 here. I'll try it at work on Monday. XP Pro upgrade scheduled for next month.

For future refence instead of typing in on the address line click on file and open to get to an internet site.
