Great win for the Royals today, 2-0 over the Blue Jays. Gave Cy Young candidate Roy Halladay only his 4th loss of the year, dropping him to 16-4.

Runelvys Hernandez was the star, had a complete game shutout.

9 IP, 7 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 4 K.

I imagine that was his first ever CG shutout? I'm not sure. Great performance either way. Mark Teahen and Shealy both homered off Halladay for the 2 runs. Halladay also threw a CG in the loss... the Royals are doing a much better job of knocking around great pitchers like Schilling and Santana and Halladay lately.

The Royals have shown an ability to play up to teams and pitchers that they shouldn't beat.
Now they've got to stop playing down to teams that they already should be competitive with.

Thought it was a typo when I saw it on the ESPN scroller. It's the first CG shoutout I can remember in the last year or so. Good stuff. Now for some consistency.

I'm curious what the people who wanted to get rid of Nelvys have to say...

I'm not opposed to designating him for assignment still. He's so terribly inconsistant, and probably always will be.

he pitched a great game, but still very inconsistent and really needs to stay consistent to finish the year to have a chance, but this is def. a great start for him.
