Way to beat up the second teamers, Ryan.

How did he look?

Sims played several snaps against the Rams' offensive starters, who were still playing at the beginning of the 3rd quarter...

It was when he was a starter that they ripped on him. In a back-up role people care less.

I'm no expert line play critic, but Sims looked pretty good last night to me. He was pushing his guy back into the backfield fairly regularly although I didn't see him break through or anything like that.

His wake up call came too late.

This guy will be a backup unless there's an injury

That is what I was hoping to hear, he looked great last year IMO prior to the injury.

Sims had better push against the Rams 1st-teamers than Ron Edwards did. That's all I'm gonna say about it at this point... :D

I think Sims will start opening day.

While everyone is obsesed with the DT position, we all need to say our prayers that Hick's gets cut. The dude sucks.

What I saw of Simms he was getting a pretty consistant push. He was involved in several run stuffing plays.

Why overstate the obvious? :hmmm:

It's pre-season, it's meaningless. Didn't you say that yourself?

Why would it even matter?

That's my hunch as well.

"Starters" on a DLine that rotates players like Herm is intending makes who starts less of an issue. For good or bad, right now, Sims is probably still the second-best DT on the team....when he's not feeling sorry for himself, or out-of-shape. He'll probably get one last chance this year, to prove his critics were....premature in calling him a complete "bust."

I would agree with that versus the pass. Edwards though may clog the middle better versus the run- and that's all I can say at this point also.

I think you might be confusing Edwards with Reed. Reed has been pretty active in the running game, but hasn't gotten much push vs. the pass.

Edwards, to this point, hasn't done shit that I've seen.

if DT's get sacks it's a bonus

a good defensive tackle should collapse the line a couple times a game for a tackle for loss imo.

A good DT should get more than 30 tackles in a season, at the least.
