DENVER - Broncos quarterback Jake Plummer won't face a jury trial in his road rage case.

"The case has been disposed," Englewood Municipal Court administrator Tamara Wolfe said Wednesday.

A disposition hearing was set for Sept. 29 in suburban Englewood. The two sides have until that time to work out a plea agreement.

"He hasn't officially entered a plea deal. However, it's presumed that will occur on or before the (disposition) date," said John Hoehler, spokesman for the prosecutor's office for the city of Englewood.

Plummer's attorney, Harvey Steinberg, didn't return repeated phone calls.

After Wednesday's practice, Plummer said he hadn't heard that his case wasn't going to trial: "I've been here practicing," Plummer said.

With the season opener this weekend — and a resolution in sight — Plummer was asked if he was relieved that this case wouldn't be weighing on him.

"It never was weighing on me," he retorted.

Police issued Plummer a summons last April after he allegedly kicked the headlight of a pickup and then backed his SUV into the other vehicle.

Plummer acknowledged cutting off s truck driven by 47-year-old Douglas Stone of Denver, but said he waved and apologized. Plummer said he got out of his SUV only after Stone blared his horn and then backed up into Plummer's truck.

Plummer, who said he was in a hurry because he was on his way to give a check to charity, denied cursing at Stone, kicking his bumper or backing into him.

Not a suprise.

He'd probably have overthrown them anyway.
