View Full Version : I had a prophetic vision.

We're going to beat Denver next weekend. It's going to happen, with Damon Huard at QB. Trent Green returns after the bye week and leads us to victories over both SF and Arizona too, making us 3-1 going into the Oct. 15th game at Pittsburgh.

You all think I'm crazy at this point, don't you? Well, I am, but that's beside the point. :D

What happened next in my vision is the stuff of Chiefs legend.

Trent Green goes down again in the Pittsburgh game. The Chiefs then proceed to lose 5 straight games. They get a brief reprieve at home, beating the hapless Raiders and finishing the sweep of the Broncos. Now 5-6, the Chiefs feel like they're back on track.

Then comes the loss at Cleveland. The last 4 are brutal and they managed to lose all of them.

The Chiefs sweep the Broncos, and finish the season 5-11.

It's not going to happen, but I'd pay to see the knee-jerk reactions at this board if we were able to beat Denver.

You didn't win enough games to screw up the draft pick, make sure your crystal ball is plugged and reboot if neccessary.

We can beat the Donks, but only if they are truly as bad as the Rams made them look.
If they get their heads on straight, they whoop our ass.

We still have a good shot of being a good team. TURNOVERS are what killed us last week. You can't win many games with 3 plus turnovers, even at home. I'm surprised not many have brought this point up. Vermeil would have been all over this and presented stats to back it up.

Turnovers and Penalties...and of course some seriously bad play of the OL and the inability of the defense to adjust to the no huddle...other than that, we are not too bad...

Short of winning a game in the playoffs? That would be quite a consolation prize.... :D

The nice thing about a losing season is you get a lot higher draft choice to piss away.

So Green playing against the Niners is the part of this vision you find most difficult to swallow?

Actually I wouldn't be surprised if we play tough in Denver. Perhaps even sneak out a win.

Plummer is a head case anyway but if last week was any indication the drafting of Cutler has completely blown his mental circuts. As for our QB, I wouldn't be surprised to see lots of LJ and 2 TE sets. Lots of screens/draws and lots of TE checkdowns.

A 17-14 type of win wouldn't surprise me at all.

I don't think you are insane.

If the defense can control the run and if Hali doesn't bite on every boot, we should be okay on defense. It's no surprise what they are going to do.

The key is to scale back the offense to something managble, as you suggest. Huard has to avoid turnovers.

The team's back is against the wall, and that can bring out the best in people sometimes.

Or we could lose 56-3.

Really, that would be the usual Chiefs insanity. Look terrible last week, then go into Denver where we never win and do it with the backup QB. Plummer is certainly more turnover prone than Carson Palmer though, if we can force him into some mistakes, we'll give ourselves a chance. That's probably our best hope.
